This story really brings to heart what freedom means and how cruel slavery is. More chapters please.

I expected more pain, though pain is hard to articulate. But poor Anne. I'm imagining it's Dawn who is asking about her. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: I'm glad you're still with me. I don't plan to abandon the story. I plan to stick it out to the end. I actually have the next chapter ready for posting. Such a bleak, miserable life such as Buffy's needs a little sunshine, a little goodness. Buffy will have people in her corner.

The name you gave the Master is the name Joss said was the Masters (season 1, of course) human name. So will we see Darla? And how old is Buffy? Also, I'm glad it's not Angel or Reily as her new master

Author's Response: I did (and am still doing) tons of research for this fic...want to get everything accurate. Darla will appear in this fic. Buffy is 13 when her first owner dies and 16 when she is bought by The Master. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Hope you'll keep it up.

I am enjoying this very much. I love to write and read historically acurate pieces, especialy those that don't pull the punches.on how the past truly was. My only thought is that your translations are truly not needed and are somewhat distracting. They interupt the flow of the verse. Personally I can sus out the meaning of the southern speak without the added modern dialect. End note and AN's can be great to add a bit of info like the use of the term stripe and such, or delve into a bit of history that explains something, but I think it would read more fluid if you left out the translation bits. JMO. Otherwise, I am intrigued. Good setting, strong characters, raw emotion. All in all a good drama starting to unfold. It is clear you have done your homework.

I did a great deal of research for this story...Giles would be proud! I've been debating with myself about the translations - some will understand southern speak, some won't. Maybe I'll just relocate them or remove them altogether. I'm glad that you're intrigued by the characters and the raw emotion. This is my first true foray into angst and I want it to be good.
