I can understand why Buffy was hurt.
And it sounds that Buffy just saw Spike with another girl because she was so hurt. But maybe it alone seeing Spike there that she is hurt again?

I enjoyed seeing Spike through Oz' nonjudgmental eyes. What a train wreck! This exchange had me laughing even though it was grim, too: “Bloody hell. I’m fired aren’t I?”


“Pretty much…Unless bartenders can work from home?”


“Even if they could,” Spike said, his voice muffled, “I never ran it by my boss before I tried out the idea.”


“Bummer.” Oz is so unflappable.

Excellent way to get Spike to turn a corner. He needs this distraction.

They've both reached complete crisis mode, and at least Buffy's had the opportunity to open up to somebody and Spike had the presence of mind not to take Harmony. Here's hoping this is the bottom and they're both ready to start healing.

Spike's anger at Buffy looking at his cheating as a sign of things to come makes sense, but the violent sex was certainly not the right path to get back in her good graces. Now they're shattered and looking at the relationship as an ugly decision. This chapter was emotionally devastating. I don't see how you can fix things.

Hmm , sounds like this relationship is dead in the water to me, she's totally hung up on Spike and it sounds like cornbread is hung up on Sam. so let him ask her out instead , the doofus. Hope to read more soon.

Author's Response: I didn't want him to be in it just as a date otherwise he wouldn't be here, not fond of other guys getting in the way of Spuffy, his main purpose was always to give her a link to progressing as a journalist through one of his friends, then when coming to write it I thought "Why not make it Sam, then everyone will relax" I was hoping people would see it the way you do...as long as Riley has an alternative girl in a story I think people aren't as uncomfortable him being around Buffy...even though he's not with Sam I thought throwing her name in would calm some people down...

I'm still here. I love this story even with all the angst. Although I do admit, I can't wait to see them back together again even if it is arguing. Spike gave up WAY too easily and I hope that he fights for Buffy.

Bufffy should try moving on. Doesn't seem like Spike gives a damn for her.

Author's Response: Spike just knows he's no good to her, he loves her...but as I said in one of my author's notes I really believe you have to learn to love yourself or at least be happy with your own life before you can share it with someone else, and they both are realising that and they never would have come to that conclusion unless they were seperated...it forced themto see all the flaws in themselves...Spike's away trying to fix those flaws, we'll see how far he's got soon...
