Author's Response: Thanks, effulgent! Yes, I do a lot of research for my stories, especially this one. From the FBI's training to bindings, and everything in between, I've researched. When I write, I feel compelled to stay within the parameters of truth. Sure, I take some poetic license from time to time, but overall I try to stay true. This story is far different than I've ever written, and I'm loving every moment! I'd love to hear your thoughts on my other stuff. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, effulgent! A tiny bit diabolical... sort of the way she should maybe wonder how he knows where she lives... but there is no way for logic to win out over the magnetic draw that is William. Moments like that make me forget she really is on a mission more so than just losing herself to him... Shame that mission, seems like she could have plenty of fun without it. :) Awesome chapter, gonna keep us all on the edge until the next one. Update soon!

Yes, very intentional I wrote that. Originally, I had something else entirely and SF told me it was a tad to creepy. So I fixed it and this is what I came up with.

This chapter is fascinating. It unfolds like an exotic dream. Flashing forward to the next day right after she climaxes makes the whole situation seem suspect, like it was simply her fevered fantasy. It feels like an opium dream, which makes me wonder if this is really happening and if William is real.
Author's Response: Not disclosing too much, this isn't a dream and William is VERY real. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. To be honest, I flashed forward because I've written so many times after the climax I was out of ideas. I hope doing so didn't make it a difficult read.

Also reminded me of this incredible film I think you might like, called, "Queen Margot." The main character goes out in a Venetian mask to take a lover, because she doesn't want anyone to know who she is.

I love all the detail about the masks, the striking imagery and potential symbolism of Sebastian's mask. The mood of this story is evocative and heavy. You're doing an incredible amount of world-building here and it makes the tale that much richer. It makes me feel the same way I did when I was watching, "Eyes Wide Shut," that something intensely ominous was just around the corner, something so much worse than what we are being shown.
