Wow. Emotional and dramatic. Such a good story. Did you get any inspiration from Daphne DuMaurier's novel Rebecca? This reminded me of that, but a bit more modern.

What a great surprise to see the epilogue to this story posted, I thought it was over with the last chapter. And it was a wonderful epilogue too. I loved the last scene, with Buffy's waters breaking while she's sitting on William's lap. *lol* Thanks for sharing!

Well, color me surprised! I thought it was already over. Thanks for the epilogue though. I wasn't confused and didn't have any loose ends in my mind, but hey, different strokes for different folks and all that. I love what you did in the eipilogue though! Having William write a book about all the bad and getting it out of his system that way while giving him something to look back on, ponder, and reassess whenever the need arises. And then the little comic relief at the end with Buffy's water breaking while sitting on his lap. Nice! Humor and grossness in one shot and as we all know, the gross and humor associated with babies doesn't end with their birth! Wait until he gets one of those "special" diapers! LOL! Loved the tale. Thanks for sharing it!

Excellent writing. A very unique AU highlighting some very dark and challenging lifestyles. Thought that you handled this with great care. Smooth but gritty story that you couldn't guess the characters motivations or presume their actions. Great fic to read.

What a wonderful way to end this emotional, richly detailed story. You've left them all in a good, though not perfect place. It gives the sense of completion, but isn't a nice neat package. Will coming out of his fugue state was delicately and believably handled, and I love the surprise that it's Buffy, in the end, who brings us back to the title of the story. Thank you for taking such care with these characters. This was an emotionally fulfilling, well plotted story that left me feeling invested in the characters. Excellent job with this one.

Author's Response: I didn't realize that I had left so many things undone. My writing has gone askew lately. I am working on an epilogue that will hopefully answer everyone's questions and leave them fulfilled without reopening the entire story.

I understand that you wanted to wrap the fic up, but this doesn´t feel like it. I would have wished to see Spike really saying goodbye to his old life at the funeral, and also closure to the Drusilla-situation, because that wasn´t addressed enough in this chapter. I mean he DID lock himself into her closet... I feel like there has been a lot left unsaid in this last chapter, and I say, this screams for an epilogue, and a long one at that. Anyway, if you can´t find it in yourself to do so, let me tell you, this story was brilliant anyway, I enjoyed every single chapter.
