I'm really loving Tara in this story. You would see little flashes of her strength on the show, but it was never showcased. I love how you've brought her front and center, and let her grow in her power and confidence.

Author's Response: They hold a special place with me to (which was why I started this one...well, one of the reasons). I'm happy you're enjoying it. The purpose will be revealed over time, but will probably be told in more in-depth short stories as a companion pieces to this fic. Otherwise, it would be another 50 chapters. ^_^

I love a story that can really get a rise out of me, and this one is pressing all the right buttons. You've pretty successfully sent me into mother bear mode. I want to protect Spike and kill everyone involved in his capture and "training." Kudos! It's great to find an author who can evoke that kind of visceral response. Waiting a week between chapters is torturous, but you seem impervious to bribes. Oh well... Until next Monday then!

I loved the dream sequence, especially the demon's inability to explain how he feels about Buffy. Hoping for some witchy fireworks when Angel's backup plan goes into effect. Still loving this story, even though I'm terrible about reviewing. Sorry.
Summary: Pissed that Drusilla dragged him back to the Hellmouth, Spike has to find SOME way to amuse himself. Pretending to have a soul, he decides to sweep the Slayer off her feet before going in for the kill. Trouble is, feelings (and grandsires) always get in the way.

I love the idea behind this story. The show did a pretty good job of pointing out that a soul doesn't immidiately make a person good, but they conveniently ignored the opposite, that maybe not having one doesn't automatically make a vampire evil. I like that you've given Spike back his free will and shown what it might have taken to make him choose the right path on his own.
