ack! buffy is destroying tom's house! how dare she?! the ungrateful whore.
hahaha - omg i am in love with this story. i feel buffy's frustration with tom in my gut. spike's reemergence into her life feels so natural and right - not a bit coerced for the story's sake, ya know? i am curious how many years it felt like for him in hell.
SO relieved buffy is 'sharing' all of herself with tom - bye, bye, tom! and looking forward to buffy relieving spike of that ridiculous borrowed shirt. :D

i'm so flummoxed about this "She." you've already said it's not drusilla but she has some dru-like qualities. plus she wants spike. and if she scares willow, then whoa. bad news.
that dream was... well, it was WOW. didn't see the dream sequence coming - you sneaky thing! so awesome.
wonderful and sweet to find the two of them snuggled in the easy chair - nervous though that spike has stories to tell and perhaps things to do that will try to take him from her - praying that doesn't happen.
loved the update!!

what's up with the mirrors? did i miss something? :D spike IS still a vampire, no? lol - loved this chap - love the interactions between spike and buffy in the car most especially. and danny has the makings of that rare yet beautimous commodity: an original character who is actually intriguing and i want to know him better! :D

oh hells, the entire interaction in the entryway of giles' and olivia's house was too funny - and so damn SCOOBY it made my heart swell. you've got a grasp on characterizations that never fails to impress.
i especially loved:
“Hello Rupert!” boomed Spike, pushing his way in. “Good to see you too, except for the penis envy: that’s just gross really. The girls and I would have been here sooner ’cept for the part where Daphne here drives that thing you admire so much like a ruddy lunatic. Though I suppose, sooner or later though it is, you’re shocked to see me, seein’ as how you said I was dead all this time.”
and also the tiny bit where danny hugged spike for no apparent reason during the greetings. and also when buffy busted out with, "A reflection. I saw... I saw your butt." cracked. me. up.
so much to love. another fantastic update!

i remember spike and willow sharing a special connection in Spike Reborn - i was really drawn to that closeness between them and liked the homage to it here. :)
that spell scene was really vivid - it made my chest tighten up - that's how i know the action is well written.
and faith makes me so happy - her quippiness and grit come through beautifully in this chapter.

creepies up, indeed! nell is gross, yet, fenn is somehow grosser.
i love how you write the baby slayers, and it is so easy to want to give joy a serious smack. nice to see a grown-up Vi. still nervous about spike after all these years, how cute is she, but with a quiet confidence i enjoy reading.

i love how each chapter gives glimpses of both the good guys and the bad guys' activities. it's a really tightly written tandem that is gripping to read. i can't take my eyes away because each section of the chapter yanks me in a different direction. makes my brain hurt - but only in the best of ways :).
i wanna know what the heck is going on with spike - fascinated by how he can be so infinitely strong that it's clear if he were to fight buffy 'for reals' she'd be dead before she threw her first punch. this vampire is something else entirely.
and the little competition for him was pretty funny. spike doesn't mind being a prize as long as only buffy can claim him. these two seriously need to get a room.
and i know i repeat myself, but your faith makes my day. she's just perfect.
Author's Response: I am very happy to hear that the to and fro is working - it works in my head see, so I hope I get that across. I'm not sure if I like that it makes yer brain hurt :( I was trying to get away from the "difficult read" sort of thing, while keeping the plottiness that pop up. hmmm. Well, do let me know how it goes, k?
And Spike will have more to reveal as we go along, but I may, you know, get all complex on you hehe - ok, maybe i do like hurting brains a lil *iz evil*

His lips parted as he listened to her, watching her. She turned to him, mouth twisting with just a hint of rue.
“And yet they do,” she said. “Love you.”
Her dark green eyes were very deep, knowledgeable.
“It’s called friendship.”
She waited, silent. His eyes filled with tears. He swallowed hard and blinked them away.
“That’s … completely daft,” he said.
“Yeah well, get used to it,” she snorted, snuggling down in the back seat as well she as she could. “Cuz you’ve got it.”
^^^ oh, that was just so... so perfect. he never had friends before. certainly was never a friend of the scoobies or even remotely of buffy. how is it willow can always say things exactly how they should be said? i love her so much.
the bed scene (well both of them, actually - the one in the background with willow and spike setting the thing up AND the one between spike and buffy) - they were both so great. i love that they're all so comfortable in each other's space.
it was so juvenile for spike and buffy to dry hump each other right next to willow. but honestly, i thought it was hot. they ARE a little like teenagers this time around. and that is SO something teenagers would do with their friend in the same room. i'm reminded of a particularly dirty thing i did with my sophomore high school boyfriend in the back seat of his friend's car while we were all driving to a movie... hee.
Author's Response: YAY! Willow love makes me happy! And YES! for sophomoric dy erm.. moist humping! That's just where they are, desperate to get it on somehow, no matter what. I figured that once Buffy made the decision to just kiss him, instead of going in slow so he could stop her, it was going to be a nice sweaty gotta do this thing now moment. Much like the unzip and ride him in Smashed. By the same token, this is Buffy: she believes Willow is asleep, and she does not go so far as to remove her pj bottoms. I like that she makes certain HE has a nice time instead of just herself. I'm thinking they will mature rapidly... and turn up the heat in this new relationship.
So.. FUN!!

i also wanted to comment about angel and spike's bargain. i cannot begin to understand why angel would do what he did. does it have something to do with the "things" that took them wanting to break them both - watch it happen maybe? perhaps angel was already so broken they didn't feel it was worth their time to keep him? he must have been a shell of someone else entirely to abandon spike like that. i just don't think he could ever have done that without something being seriously wrong with him. *cries*
i hope we'll get some more info about that, and about what happened to illyria.
and also - i keep forgetting to ask - where in the frilly heck is xander??

Oooh babes, i was trying to NOT let my head go boom this time around and NOT put just... everyone! in this one. (cuz Spike Reborn = head go slick!! hee) I dunno, he may turn up in the next episode, ya never know with my brain.
AS to the bargain: Angel had VERY good reasoning, very good planning. He just... made a mistake. A horrible one, one single detail that he left out of the contractual negotiations, with terrible consequence.
Nope, Angel is not the big nasty I have painted him as in the past. He has his reasons and has suffered too. We will get a glimpse at all of that as we go along. But SRS? we have to deal with this Big Bad first hehe. I know, I'm mean, but trust that it's all there, and I will do my level best to get it out onto the page for you guys.
