I see.. yes, it would Buffy pain if she would lost the baby through death after she adopted it. Awe, Spike is acting gentlemanlike towards Buffy. And Buffy felt alone after he left. Seems to me she is more eagerly to accept Spike in her life since before. Grrr. Riley. He thinks he'll get Buffy back? He doesn't know her a bit. And the roses (and the card) were so romantic :) *sigh* I feared it would be one of the babies. *sigh* Yeah, life is short. ~ Good chapter!

Okay, you got me teary with this one. I have to say though, I guessed that was going to happen. It's just horrible to lose a baby, even if the baby isn't yours. I could imagine how Buffy felt. I really hope that making love to him won't just be about comfort and it would be something that she really wants. I wouldn't want her to regret it. This was another amazing chapter, spuf! Wow..I have to say...In a world where it is hard pressed to find a man that's not intimidated by a woman with children *instant family*....Here is Spike encouraging Buffy to adopt a sick child! ....Then thinking to himself that he wants to actually be married to her, and adopt this child. Buffy...Grab him up and RUN to Vegas with him!! LOL

Dawn's character was great..Very neat that Connor is a med student who is in awe of Spike..

Great chapter! I'm getting caught back up with this story and I'm enjoying the "flow", as you say. Funny thing is I really like Dawn's part in the story (and that's a big thing if I'm not annoyed by her!). Loved Spike's thoughts about sweeping Buffy off her feet... I hope we get to see a Vegas wedding.... maybe two? :)

Author's Response: I try to write Dawn as 'not annoying' in most of my fics. That's why I usually make her very young, or older and wiser. Less of a brat. Spike is interesting to me. He's a man (or vampire!) who is loyal to the end. I'm going to try and give some insight into why he stayed with Drusilla for as long as he did. Spike will realize, if he has not already, that he did not truly love Dru. Not like he can love Buffy. One of the things (romance wise) that draws Spike to Buffy is her giving nature and unselfishness. She's something that Spike never really experienced before and he's drawn to it. Deep down in his heart and soul, William/Spike is a devoted family man and Buffy is really his perfect match. He already feels this, even if Buffy is skittish. That's why Spike isn't so broken up or gunshy even though Drusilla cheated on him. His pride may have been hurt, but not his heart. Hope this will make sense? Thanks, spuf
