The river of blood was a welcome respite for Spike, though it represents something awful for Buffy. It brought Spike back up to a level of normalcy that I wasn't expecting so soon. I enjoyed the mundane details of hunting down a place to wash and getting a new set of clothing. It let the eeriness of this place seep in. The normal look and complete emptiness of Buffy's nightmare landscape is chilling.

If time is passing like it did for Spike, she's been here, alone, for eons. She must be completely mad by now.

If he thought Buffy was a pill when she was alive ......then this hellacious Buffy is gonna be a doozy........ can't wait.

Whoo! Yeah! These chapters just keep getting better and better. I love your descriptions about what hell would be like for Buffy and Spike. Poor Buffy though. Living alone for for a thousand years with no quest or light at the end of the tunnel, unlike Spike. That sounds so ... inexplicably awful. :( I actually find it interesting though that Buffy's version of hell can offer Spike things that he can be grateful for. At least on the surface. Now I'm just wondering what Buffy's going to be like after all of this. So far, we can see that she's still a warrior, though most likely more so than before. I'm on pins and needles to see what else happens. Great chapter.

I also want to add that I think Spike, in this story, is amazing. All the pain he suffered. And hanging on a wall for three hundred years so he could bring Buffy home... such an intense and enjoyable narrative. This is definitely moving up the list of my favorite stories by you.
