I loved this story. I really loved your Spike--strong, confident, smart, sexy and in charge--WITHOUT being all dark and evil. Like the reviewer before me, I also was kind of hoping he would return to the other dimension. Lol.

Your stories are all so wonderful. I truly hope you will find the time to write more fanfiction even though I wish you the best out there in the world of published original fiction!

Truly enjoyed it! I noticed "Revenant", so first read "Pinch Hitter" (that I'd somehow missed). Read those two, then most of your others... some I realized I'd read already (but read again, just for fun), some I did realize I'd already read (and had really liked--- were classic Spuffy fic!) and I wrapped it up reading this one. A great, joyfully ending romp--- with a few truths and true lessons thrown in for Spuffy and the Scoobies, and even us the readers! Gotta love it, when fic makes us *think*!!! Gotta rec this one from now on!
This would make a great stand-alone fantasy tale even if it weren't Spuffy/BtVS/AtS in any way.
Oh, and loved the way you portrayed the "magelettes"/our witches! Very Sweet. And Anya! Was great to see her bloom. Too bad Xander (and the end the other two stooges) "chose" to "portray" 'themselves' (with a li'l help from Dreamweaver, snicker) as such asses! Xander seems to rarely have an 'in-between'--- he is either a love, faithful, loyal, stalwart (but could get a dog to do *that*, snicker) OR he's a bigotted jackass (no libel intended toward jackasses, tho') with a motormouth problem, no cajones to back up his bullying (rarely, unless he's written as a sadist or pervy), living to belittle others/other beings to make himself seem better. But, herein, his persona worked, for him to learn a lesson the HARD way.

I belong in your 2nd group about Xander - the one that sees him as a bigoted jackass. :D I was harder on him here than I usually am, to give Anya an even stronger reason than in canon to dump him. I like Anya and wanted her to have someone who really loves and values her for once. A couple of people really got mad about the way I depicted him, notably one long-time fanfic writer with many stories and fans to her credit. She told me on LJ that the story was bad from start to finish and that every single characterization was totally unbelievable. All stemming from the fact that she apparently is a Xander fan. It was a wonderful vindication when the story won Best Long at the Fang Fetish Awards! You're one of the most discerning reviewers I have and I'm so glad you liked the story and the characterizations! I'm hoping to end up published in the end and the Shifters are a major element in a whole original non-BtVS work.

Read this some time ago - I really enjoyed the treatment of taking all of them into another dimension - wonderful way to bring in new characters and exotic locations - and I loved how you set up you realm with those wonderful shape shifters and magics and animal social structures that are a little like those we recognize in our own world. That really helped to connect the lessons that Buffy and the Sunnydale group needed to learn.

I think Xander could have had a little more layered treatment but he was such a blockhead so many times in the series - and his not learning anything from his experience does add to the contrast of growth.

Author's Response: Thank you for liking it! New dimensions open up so many possibilities and are so much fun to play with. I know Xander was one-note, but I wanted Anya to have a clear reason to leave him and I also needed a voice of negative opinion on their trip. Xander filled the bill so perfectly. And in canon he never learns anything until Season 7 after he loses Anya. He'll be more layered in the sequel.

I don't review that many stories, but this story kept my interest from beginning to end. The other dimension was well developed and the culture of the shifters was great. The only thing I would like to have seen would have been more chapters, I was sorry to see the story end.

Thanks for allowing me to share in your adventure, I enjoyed every word of it.

Such a beautiful story. So many things to love; great dialogue and characterizations, a completely compelling new world and very erotic sex scenes. My favourite thing was how the characters grew and developed, while still keeping to their expected emotional responses. It felt... true. Most of all, I loved, loved, loved this portrayal of Anya. I was cheering her all the way. All of your stories are great, but this one is masterful. Fantastic!
