Wow Linnae - beautifully written, hawt, sweet, passionate and did I mention hawt. Phew! Had got a bit behind on my reading so had three lovely chapters to enjoy. Looking forward to more

Author's Response: Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! And thank you! Your praise is greatly appreciated and hits my self doubts over the head with a hammer, which they definitely need once in a while lol. I will be posting again within a week, hopefully. Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)

Fabulous! Loved it! More, please?!

Author's Response: Yes, there will be more! I'm so glad you liked it, thank you for reading and reviewing! I hope to wrap this story up in about 6 or 7 chapters (We'll see if that happens) so I am going to try and begin posting them closer together (I hope I didn't just jinx myself haha). Again, thanks for reading and reviewing!

this was a beautifully written chapter.  It is really nice to read a story where Buffy is not calling Spike a soulless demon.  Buffy knows all of the horrid things Spike has done but is able to see past that and see the man that Spike is.  Well done.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it, and thank you for the review! Since Buffy is not the slayer in this story, I tried to write her as I could see her acting/feeling under the circumstances of this story. Spike has never hurt her or tried to kill her, and she had never come across a vampire before meeting him (Darla not included). Not being the slayer, being older, not having been trained to kill them in order to survive, and not being hurt by them personally, AND being mated to one, all makes Buffy more able to think in shades of gray, rather than black and white, without feeling guilty about it. I love writing Buffy as a normal human, or just someone other than the slayer, because I believe it allows her character to be more able to understand a vampire, or accepting one who doesn't fit the mold, because she has not experienced their evil firsthand. :) Thank you so much for reading, I'm very happy you liked this chapter!

Yay! Finally! I was cringing along with Spike, expecting a big blowout with Buffy. What he did was wrong, but I sympathize with him. He wanted so badly to protect Buffy that he was willing to risk her hating him. Now that this is solved, onto telling Dawn and probably kicking the crap out of Riley Finn!

Author's Response: Buffy might have blown up and been rightfully angry if Spike had felt any other driving emotion, rather than the desire to protect her, when they claimed each other. However, she understood, and she has fallen in love with him and can also feel his love for her. Now that they are connected, she can really sense (mostly) what Spike is feeling, and vice versa. As for Dawn, telling her might not be as big of an event as expected, or maybe it will be, who knows! But it may take a while before Buffy explains everything. As for Riley, as much as I would love to write in Spike kicking the oaf's butt, Mr. Finn has not done anything untoward and probably will not show up again in this fic. Anyway, thank you for the review! And I hope you continue to enjoy this story as it goes along! :)

Ooh! The dramatic end of Hank. Good for Buffy running him over with the car. I always support a lady who knows how to use her vehicle as a weapon.

It's so adorable to see the fallout from Spike rescuing Dawn. He's so upset by the thought of being a white hat, but it's nice that she appreciates what he did so much. I hope they become reluctant (at least on Spike's part) besties.

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! I'm very happy you liked it. As for Spike and Dawn's little conversation, we'll see if they get closer, not sure if they are going to or not once she learns about what he is. Thanks for reading!

Oooh, that was wonderful! Both of these last two were great chapters. But that was a great claim, worth the wait. Glad that Buffy, & that they both, are content that they went ahead with the claim.

Author's Response: Yay! So glad to know that both chapters, and the claim specifically, were enjoyed! I really had hoped the claim scene was done well, as it was the most important one in the story. Thank you for reading and reviewing!!

Great story, but you need a grammar diction beta: "passed" vs. "past," and the past tense of "drag" is "dragged" not "drug," etc.

Author's Response: I'm glad you like the story! When it comes to editing, I really like doing it myself. As for the word "drug," you're right, it is technically grammatically incorrect, however, if you consider dialect it can be acceptable. I probably should have used "dragged" instead, or another word entirely, but at the time I didn't think about it. Now, "past" and "passed" I believe I used correctly in this chapter. I skimmed over it just to be sure, but if I did make a mistake I'm unaware of, then it's my fault. "Passed" and "past" can be tricky words for me, but I know for sure that "half past five" was correct, unless the sources I read from were unreliable. Thank you for reading and reviewing, I'm happy you are enjoying the fic! As for getting a beta, it might be smart, but I just really enjoy writing and editing on my own for now.

I just can't imagine what Buffy is feeling espcially knowing that at some point she is going to have to talk to Dawn at some point.  I have a feeling that Darla knew that they would claim each other that night.  Sometimes it takes a traumatic event to either bring people together or break them apart.  I think they both just needed the push.  but I am happy that at least she isn ot too upset with him.  She knows and can feel his love for her and that is what she was really afraid of, being tied to someone who didn't love her unconditionally.  Just an AWESOME UPDATE and so close back to back.

Author's Response: Darla may or may not have known. However, she did know Spike wouldn't leave Buffy to be alone after what happened. As for Dawn, I'm not completely sure yet how telling her will work out, or if that part of the story is going to be included or not. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the chapter. I decided to update back to back because I felt badly about leaving the story untouched for so many weeks. I hope to get another chapter out soon. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Now that was an awesome update.  I love that Dawn really wanted to thank Spike for helping her that night.  He is not used to being on the help end of the stick.  Just too cute.

I hate that Buffy was the mechanism that allowed Spike to find and finally get rid of hank.  I mean even though the man was a vampire he realy thought through how to get to Buffy.  but you have to give it to Buffy.  She was not going to go down without a fight.  She ran that man over with her car and didn't give it a second thought.  I am glad that Spike finally got there and they both know now that Hank can not hurt them any longer.

Author's Response: I am so happy you enjoyed the chapter, and thank you for this lovely review! I didn't plan on killing Hank so soon to be honest, but as I was writing, it felt natural, and like the next good step in the story. Again, I'm so glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for reading!!

Hank being gone will of course start a lot of conflicting feelings in Buffy. Then it was claim time, well done.

Was Hank hiding in the trunk to avoid being a fried vamp from the sun?  If so when did he get a chance to hide in it?  Either way, RIP!

Author's Response: Yes that is exactly why he hid in the trunk. Plus, since he was a vampire, oxygen wasn't a problem either. And at some point when Buffy and Spike were sleeping was when he snuck in, at least that's the way I wrote it to seem. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Another lovely chapter. I love all of the emotional complexity going on. And yay! Dawn finally knows about Spike. I hope we get to see some bonding between the sisters and their partners. Spike is so weirded out by having saved Dawn. I'm thinking that will come back up once the Hank deal is through.

Author's Response: I'm really happy you liked the chapter, thanks so much for reading and reviewing! And yes, there is a chance that Spike's saving Dawn might come up again.

I LOVE IT.  I mean give it to Dawn for bringing everything to light with what happened with Spike earlier and trying to flush out who/and why he is there.  She was not about to let Buffy wash over who he was.  She was actually being honest when she said that they were working things out.  Darla was actually keeping quiet when they were talking and Buffy was doing her talking in circles.  Dawn let the cat out of the bag when it came to the double date.  Spike was keeping his temper in check when he needed to.  I do hope that Spike will be able to find Hank and take care of him.  He can't have him just waiting to pounce on any of them.  And now the great news... Dawn is going to have a baby.  I hope that with her becoming an aunt that doesn't send her down the path of wanting to have her own children.  So much happening in one chapter.  As always, just a wonderful chatper update.

Author's Response: Yay! I'm so happy you enjoyed it! I also hope that there wasn't TOO much going on at once. As for Buffy wanting children, I've written her as never having really gotten the urge to be a mom, but she is excited to become an aunt, and wants to keep Dawn, Xander, and the baby safe. Buffy (in my opinion) never really seemed the type to want a child in the show, but then again she never exactly felt she could I think, with being the slayer. In this fic she is human, true, but I've tried to write her still in character with who she was in both seasons 1 and 7, but without the slayer duty on her back. I believe Buffy isn't really interested in having kids of her own, but if she were then I believe she'd also make a great mother. But the news that she's going to become an aunt won't conjure up any maternal needs. However, there is always adoption ;) Thanks again for the lovely review!

I had decided to reread the last chapter to remind myself of what happened and saw the added part. I was wondering why it sounded new to me! I thought that I had accidentally skipped it the first time. It really does make the whole chapter flow better. And I like that it gives us a little glimpse at what Buffy's life was like before Spike.

OMG! I did not see that coming with Hank. And it was awesome that you used it to make Buffy question her connections to her vampires. And now Dawn is here! I'm so happy that we finally get to see her in the mix, especially with her shocking connection to Spike. Argh! I just can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Yay! So glad to hear you're still liking it! I'm so happy you went back and reread the last chapter, I was so mad at myself for missing it. I SOOOOO did not see that twist coming.  I am happy that Darla was home when Hank showed his true colors.  Just think in such a short period of time Buffy has not only met a vampire and discovered that she is a vampire's mate.  Her best friend became a vampire years ago and she didn't know during her recurring visits.  And now her father. I am just glad that she was able to pull it together enough to get a way from him and that Darla was there.  Spike was just being himself with not wanting to be turned away completely but Darla is helping him learn Buffy's ways.  And now to TOP IT OFF, Dawn was the one that Spike helped?  I know that he didn't want anyone to know but that just might prove to Buffy that Spike is changing and changing for the better.
