I just hope that at the end of the day Darla and Spike can come to an understanding. Darla loves her friend and we all see Spike falling hard. It was cute to see her try to work within the craziness that both of them brought to her house. Buffy is really going to get a hard lesson in living with KNOWN vampires. But at the end of the night Spike and Buffy just have to stay focused on themselves and getting to know each other.

Ok, ok. I have been talking circles trying to convince myself that I like this fic so much because it is just sooooo .melodramatic that it made it's way back to good. However you just made me sigh. I mean a really happy sigh with my mouth stuck somewhere between a smile and an oh.

Author's Response: Well, I wonder if the melodrama might turn you off, and I'm sorry if it does. I'm trying to keep the setting of the fic in tune with what Spike and Buffy are both feeling. And I like to kind of compare their emotions to those of a new teenage couple crushing hard on each other, figuring things out, but obviously much more serious than just that, too. I SO did not see the Darla twist coming. That just goes to prove that Buffy is a tad special. She has been friends with a vampire for YEARS and did not know it. I am glad that Darla came to visit. I think that might give her some additional perspective on Spike and the vampire life. But I am so happy that they are unknowingly working on their relationship. They have been getting to know each other and have started to actually TALK. Just an overall great chapter.

Their relationship is progressing quite nicely. Loved the introduction to Darla but it makes me wonder just who turned her since she has the ability to control her impulses. Wonderful chapter, as always! :)
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so happy you liked it, and as for Darla, she is kind of affected like Harmony was after being turned into a vamp. Harmony was evil, sure, and couldn't be trusted, but she also did still sort of carry human feelings, and she didn't want to kill Cordelia, but the demon in her did. I'm trying to write Darla in a way where she acts towards those she cared about as a human, the way she treated Angelus. I do believe that she kind of loved Angelus, even as an evil vampire, and so I just made her a little bit more unique than other vampires by letting her care about people she loved when she was human. She is a lot like Spike in that sense, but whether she has more or less of a conscious than him has yet to be revealed. :) Thanks for reading and reviewing, can't wait to see if you enjoy the next chapter!

I was sure that the tshirt Buffy was wearing would be black. B/c until you introduced Darla, I was convinced that this was a universe that Willow had conjured up to 'fix' Buffy (and remove Spike), post-resurrection.

Though it sounds like a very interesting storyline, this fic is a little more simple, and everyone is aware of what's going on and the universe wasn't created by any magick-happy friend. Was so happy & thankful for an update! I'm enjoying it, and hope you'll have time to write more soon! Very interesting to add Darla into the mix, both as Buffy's former friend AND a vampire, and as a pretty young one that has managed to be able to have self control within one year or so post-turning. Any reason, in particular, for choosing to write Darla into this role?
Author's Response: I love Darla's character on both BtVS and Angel, and I have wanted to see what it might be like if her and Buffy were friends. I thought "what a better way to see it then to write it" and it just happens to help keep the story going here, so that is why I chose to add her in. I am having so much fun with this. It's weird though, the mood isn't light and bubbly, but I find myself smiling at my screen while I read. I think it's the uncomplicated nature of your story so far. I am not worrying over multiple other characters viewpoints or motivations.
The only thing I have to worry about is exactly whats happening on the screen.
I love it, and I am looking forward too more.

Spike needs to either sit down with Buffy or take her out on a date, so they can really talk to each other, one on one and clear some things up between each other. Tell her some or most of his past, show her, some of his softer side and his own fears and hopes about 'mating' with her, too.
Will Buffy take Spike out to meet Willow and Oz, so word will get out she's already involved/dating another man already? And she can stop playing matchmaker?
I look forward to reading what happens next.
Author's Response: Willow learned her lesson, and Buffy probably won't be introducing Spike to people yet. As for Spike and Buffy sitting down and talking things out, they will communicate in their own time, and I may not always write out those scenes. Right now Spike is afraid to spook Buffy by showing too many of his expectations, and with the claim, they are both very driven to follow their gut instincts as well as their feelings so personal details about each other can be learned later. Awww, they connected! I loved it! I also really like the brush off Buffy gave Riley. I am one of the minority that didn't much care for Willow. I found her character to be meddlesome, and lacking contrition. Both her and Xander always seems to get a free pass, so I really liked that your Buffy has recognized that Willow has crossed the line right away. This Buffy seems to have a stronger sense of self, and I really like it.
Mostly I really like her interaction with Spike, and how she's quickly accepting their situation, and is open to understanding it more. I'm very excited for the next chapter. You write so well, and have such fresh ideas. I also like how your chapter lengths are hearty, and not the two or three paragraphs that seem to have become common among new writers. It makes it worth the wait.

Author's Response: First of all, thank you so so much for this lovely review! I'm glad you like the way I write, that is a huge compliment to me. Sometimes I feel my chapters can range on the short side, but I try to not let that happen very often, and I'm so glad you liked this chapter. As for Buffy having a stronger sense of self, I always think she had a very good sense of self, but I do believe in certain areas of the show and her life she had doubts that sometimes got in the way of her happiness. I personally try to write her in fanfiction by either focusing on season 1-Buffy or season 7-Buffy, or a combination of the two. I feel Buffy was very innocent and hardly cynical in season 1, which I like. And I feel she was extremely mature, well grounded, and open-minded in season 7, which I also like. Obviously, there are so many facets of Buffy Summers and she is always amazing, but when I write her I really like to try and capture the character she was in the latest season of the show. In this fic that is what I am trying to do, along with some added innocence, which I believe she could easily have in her character since she is not a slayer and did not have to deal with many of the fallouts and heartbreaks that job brought her. And as for Willow, Buffy and her are close friends in this, but not as close as they were in the TV show. Plus, Buffy is dealing with her want for Spike, so another man coming into her life right now would manage to irritate her.
I hope you continue to enjoy this fic, and I am so grateful for the review, and I love that you love the way I'm writing Buffy, I try hard to stay in character when writing her.Thank you so much for reading! *hugs*
