There's nothing worse than a poopy baby. Even Spike ran for cover. Poor Giles.
Summary: Spike and Buffy are thrust together when Giles finds himself a reluctant and sudden father. The two humans know nothing about raising children and find themselves strangely dependent on a vampire to show them the ropes. Giles asks Buffy to be the babysitter and learn from Spike. I agree with your A/N. I knwo a girl who literally gave up her custody to her children to her mother--this was after she hadnt' seen either of her children for years. I really feel for Giles, because I'm currently going through something similar. My brother's best friend's mom seriously signed custody of her son (my brother's best friend) to my dad. Not all women get gushy over babies. Sadly.

There is nothing more frustrating than a crying baby, I agree entirely. Especially when it won't stop crying. Because you have no idea what to do, what it wants, how to make it stop crying, and you feel so horrible for not knowing, and worse for being angry.

Poor Spike! Finally gets to have sex and she smacks him! Aw, well. That's Buffy for ya.
Gonna say, I'm not really a huge fan of how fast they got together in your story. I'm kinda one of those people who enjoy the build-up. Still, the sex scene you wrote is probably one of the hottest, best written sex scenes I've read recently.
Oh, and regarding your author's note--I didn't really find it squicky that he fingered Buffy while they were bathing Ophelia. It's not like the baby will remember, and there wasn't anything sexual INVOLVING the baby, so I don't know if that's why people were offended but I wasn't. It didn't even occur to me that it would be.

The redhead had her arms full of baby when Buffy rushed from the bathroom, steam and faint fruity smells drifting out behind her. Spike hovered at Willow’s elbow, attempting to act all cool and evil, but Buffy felt stunned by the look of protective concern for the little girl that clouded the clear blue. His eyes were trained on Willow like a hawk, ready to spring to action should he not approve of any of the witch’s moves. Buffy didn’t know whether to smile affectionately or gulp in horror.
That embodies Spike so well in my mind! Spike would totally do that. "Yeah, I totally don't give a rat's arse 'bout the baby . . . hold her wrong an' I'll tear your throat out! I mean, not that I care or anythin' . . ."
It may have been Buffy's first with Spike, but it wasn't her first time with sex. Come on. Their first time in the show was not so dissimilar.

Oh, I forgot to mention in the last chapter--I really don't get why all the words were changed. Are you British? because you use British words perfectly, but you also use American words properly too. But I agree--it really doesn't make sense that the words have changed? (I'm American, by the way. But then again, vocabulary changes from state to state over here, so i guess it makes sense . . .)

It was slightly weird to read that I will admit, however I've never been a mother so I guess I really have no reason to complain. I didn't find anything about it paedophilish (it wasn't the baby either of them wanted sexually) so I dont' see anything wrong with it, just weird. Because, you know . . . baby sucking nipple while Spike sucks the other. But nothing gross. Just odd. I don't even know if I made any sense.
