“Buffy!” Hank Summers shouted.

“I’m coming!” 17 year old Buffy Summers yelled back as she jumped off her bed and ran downstairs too greet her parents home.

When she got down stairs her mother Joyce had a strange look on her face where as her father had a huge grin firmly planted on his face. ‘must have got that promotion’ she thought.

“How’d the party go” she asked

“It went great I got the promotion I was after” Hank told his daughter excitedly.

“That’s great Dad you’ve worked really hard for it” Buffy smiled even thought she hasn’t always got along with her father the promotion was really good for the whole family as money was always tight in the Summers household.

Buffy turned to look at Joyce who didn’t look so happy about it. ‘what’s wrong with Mum’ she thought.

“Tell her Hank” Joyce said miserably

“Tell me what” Buffy asked in confusion.

“Well sweetheart their a tiny catch…….”

She could see her father was nervous about telling her this ‘catch’ but I couldn’t be that bad could it? However the dejected look on her mother’s face was not comforting and was making her fell extremely uneasy and anxious.

“What do you mean a catch?”

“ Well I promised something to secure my promotion”

“ What did you promise” Buffy asked curiously. Hank hesitated to answer her which confused Buffy. Did the catch have something to do with her? It couldn’t could it I mean what could she do.

“Spit it out Hank!” Joyce suddenly shouted. The look in her mother’s eyes was seriously worrying Buffy she had never seen her like this before.

“I promised you’d marry Angelus O’Connor on your 18th birthday” Hank blurted out.

“WHAT!!!!”

She couldn’t believe what she had just heard it had to be some kind of joke. She couldn’t get married she was still in high school for goodness sake! The thing that made it even worse was she was supposedly promised to Angelus. Angelus was 21 and was an heir to his father Ethan’s multi-billion dollar company ‘Giles O’Connor Enterprises’ It was no secret that Angelus had been after Buffy since he first saw her. However Buffy was well aware of his womanising and stayed clear of him, which made him want him even more.

This was like a nightmare for Buffy she didn’t want to marry Angelus. She didn’t want to let her family down but they where asking too much of her weren’t they?
There had to be a solution to this then it hit her like a ton of bricks William Giles!

Since Buffy moved to Sunnydale she has been in love with William Giles aka Spike as most people knew him as. She had seen him when she went to one of the parties at Giles O’Connor with her parents. She remembers instantly falling in love with the hansom blonde but never actually having a conversation with him. Probably due to the fact that she could never gather the courage to actually approach him. The only time she had actually talked to him was when her Dad introduced them. Plus the odd hello when they bump into each other.

That night Buffy called her best friend Willow to tell her about the events that had taken place.

“I can’t believe it Buffy your only 17 what are you going to do?” Willow asked

“Well I have an idea but I am not sure it’ll work” Buffy replied

“Look we’ll talk tomorrow at school” Willow yawned

“ Okay later Wills”

The next day Buffy couldn’t concentrate on anything all she could think about was getting out of the stupid marriage. She had completely ignored her parents and refused to talk to them her Dad was ignoring her anyway it was like all he cared about was the promotion. Although her Mum seemed to be more guilty about it at least she gave her some sympathetic glances, however they were yet to talk about it.
‘maybe I could get Mum on my side’ she thought to herself.

“Hey Buffy” She was snapped out of her thoughts as she saw her best friend coming towards her.

“Hi Will” she greeted her friend. Buffy and Willow had been best friends since Buffy started at Sunnydale High and told each other they were more like sisters than friends.

“So do you want to tell me what your going to do. I mean your not actually going to marry him are you?” Willow enquired

“Well I was thinking about William Giles maybe he can help”

“William Giles Angel’s cousin?” Willow laughed

“Yes” Buffy said completely serious

“Buffy have you gone MAD!!” Willow said in a bad English accent

“What do you mean” Buffy questioned her friends reaction

“HELLO” Willow said whist waving her hands furiously in front of Buffy’s face

“How is he going to help I mean you’ve been in love with him forever and you don’t even know him that well” Willow was completely confused at Buffy’s ‘solution’

Everyone knew that William Giles was the other heir to ‘Giles O’Connor Enterprises’ as his father Rupert Giles was the other partner in the business. It was Spikes mother Anne who suggested her husband Rupert and brother Ethan O’Connor set up a business. Unfortunately after the businesses first year Anne had tragically died in a car accident. No one expected the business to do so well but when it did the obvious two people to take over would be Ethan’s son Angelus and Rupert’s son William.
The only problem was the two cousins HATED each other.

“Yeah well he can help” Buffy pouted

“Enlighten me Buffy” Willow rolled her eyes

“Well here’s the plan….” Buffy hesitated

“Well” Willow prompted

“Okay well you know how Spike hates Angel he would do anything to stop him from getting what he wanted…..” said Buffy

“ Which would be you” Willow supplied

“Right so maybe I can ask him to help get me out of it” Buffy continued

“and how exactly is he going to get you out of it?” Willow questioned the plan

“I haven’t exactly worked that little detail out yet” Buffy said as she caught sight of Spike waiting beside his car.

Willow followed her friends gaze to look at the bleached blonde.

“Well here’s your chance” Willow said whist giving Buffy a slight push towards him.
Just as Buffy got up and started to walk over to him a girl jumped down the stairs to give him a hug. Buffy sighed and her shoulders slumped as she watched the pair leave in Spikes Desoto. Willow came up behind Buffy and put her hand on her shoulder after witnessing what happened.

“Don’t worry you’ll get another chance” Willow comforted her

“I can’t believe he’s with Drusilla” Buffy said venomously

Spike and Drusilla had been dating for a while. Drusilla had moved to Sunnydale when her Dad got a position at the company and she quickly got her claws into Spike. Buffy thought Drusilla only liked him because he would inherited the company. Buffy also had a suspicion Drusilla had a thing for Angelus and would have no trouble leaving Spike for him.

There were lots of reasons for the hatred between Spike and Angel. A lot of conflict was because Angelus wanted to run the company by himself and not have Spike as a partner. They really despised each other and would probably do anything to spite the other. Buffy was really hoping that Spike would help her other wise it looked like she was getting married.
