Prologe

When William Giles and his family moved to Sunnydale. He was a shy little boy going to start the 9th grade in a new country. Despite all that he still had made friend with the girl next door. Joyce Summers and Jenny Giles talked on the porch while buffy Summers and William swam in his pool and did other kid things. Rupert Giles was at work at the high school getting settled there and Hank Summers was away on a business trip. Things were going great and then Hank Buffy's father came home. Introductions were made so far so good then Hank went to say 'Hello' to Buffy and found her in the backyard with William, Hank didn't like that and called her inside, she visibaly scared. Buffy said good-bye to William and his parents then Hank lead her and her mother inside.

Everything was quiet until that night when William and his parents had gone to bed it was 9:00 pm at 10:00 William heard Buffy screaming ,Joyce telling Hank to stop, and Hank telling them both to shut-up. Buffy had told William that her father hit her but she also told him not to tell anyone. After twenty minutes of the screaming William couldn't take it anymore ,he was in tears, he got up and told Rupert and Jenny. When they were up they could also hear the screaming. Rupert and William went over and Jenny called the police, even though Mr. giles was in his robe and William was in his boxer shorts, t-shirt, and boots. They knocked on Buffy's front door Joyce answered William asked were Buffy was Joyce said she was in the living room. When William and his dad got there Buffy was on the floor and Hank was standing over her William and Giles saw Hank hit her William ran to her and Rupert restrained Hank . When the police got there Giles had gotten Hank out of the house and Buffy was curled up on Williams lap while he held her on the couch Joyce sitting next to them.

That night Joyce told Hank she wanted a dievorce and Hank was arrested and charged with child abuse. When morning came Buffy asked her mother when her father was coming home. That was also the morning Buffy found out William had not kept her secret and told him to stay away from her and that they were not friends. From that day on Buffy got into fights suspended ranaway a few times and picked on poor William all through high school. Cause she new all his secrets, but she didn't know he liked her since he had moved to Sunnydale. Buffy had liked him since that night he had saved her and pushed him away cause she scared he would hurt her too if he got to close..................

Three years later

"Hey Buffy! Over here." Willow yeld as ahe waved her friend over to her.On her way over she bumps into William Giles and gets pissed .

"Watch out where the fuck your going momma's boy!" She yells and pushes him to the ground his books and journal scater she pickes up journal and throws it in the trash then snears at him as she walks over to her friends.

"Buffy you shouldn't be so hard on him." Willow stated as Buffy sat down. Willow was always right and Buffy knew that but she wasn't going to tell Willow that cause she already knew she was smart. so insead Buffy just srugged it off.
"I know but it is just so FUN!" Willow sighed and looked at her .Buffy rolled her eyes

"OK so i was the one to run into him what the hell do i care it is my job to give him a hard time." She stated matter-o-factly

"Buffy go easy on him he never did anything to you ..... " Buffy looked at her "... anything bad " she amended

"Ya ya ya"

"Well he didn't "

"I know he just bugges me "

"Did you ever think that he bugges you because he is your match ....that you like him " At that Buffys eyes widened had it been that odvious and then she shook off that thought and pretended to gag at the thought just for show. She knew he liked her and just the mention of being with him made her warm inside. But her thoughts were desterbed by the bell so she shot Willow a deadly look and Willow ducked away to her first period as Buffy headed to hers.

William was used to this by now and he was not you average geek or loser oh no. William is in a band called "Railroad" with his friend Oz that they started at the year before Xander was the rody. Which earned him the nickname "Spike" he always wore faded blue jeans and a tight black t-shirt. Since he got his nickname he had also bleached his hair. So Spike realy isn't a geek or a loser only in Buffy's eyes which to him are the only eyes that mattered ,don't get this wrong Spike was a good guy high school senior still a virgian. He had good grades one or two fights here and there but nothing big. He even rode his bicycle to school and he got along with just about everyone, got along with none of the teachers. He was a good kid exept he smoked. But Buffy was another story she had never forgiven him for what happen THREE years ago but he still liked her even though his friends Xander Harris and Oz told him to get over her he didn't care he knew he would always like her. Cause deep down he was still that little boy but he kept moving forward in life but for some reason could not let William die.


Buffy wasn't your normal girl every day for the past three years she picked on Spike. She got into fights she didn't care if they were a guy or a girl she was always up for a fight. She was the normal Bad Ass Bitch she got D's and C's people who didn't get on her way she got along with. She always wore leather pants and tight shirts that showed her mid-drift and then her old black zip-up hoodie. She had also died her hair blond. Buffy also had a black Desoto it was her baby. She was a "Bad Egg" as the teachers called her. Even though she didn't forgive Spike she still liked him and it still scared her to get to close to anyone so she was still a virgin. But she would never tell anyone that not even Willow her best friend and definetly not Anya. So to every one else she hated him and enjoyed causing his pain but inside it killed her to see him hurting. It pianed her so much that one time Spike got into a fight and got his ass kicked even though he won, so once the guy got back to chool and he was almost healed she picked a fight with the guy and almost put him in the hospital ...she was suspended for a month. Cause deep down she was still that girl that fell for the boy next door.

After Spike got his journal and his books and headed to sit with Oz and Xander.

"Hey guyz" he said as he aproched them.

"Hey man" they said in unison

"Man why do you let her do that to you? Waite on secon thought i know this one it's cause your loves bitch. Ha ha ha ha..Owwwwhey man that hurt i am just sayin' it like it is."

"Ya i know but Harris you didn't know her back then she was differant " At that point he got a misty look that told he was reminising about back then.

"Hey ...Spike you there man" Oz waved a hand in front of his face and got nothing from him "... sorry Xander he did it again... so what are you doing to day ?"

"Oh nothing figuared i would go over to Anya's to day." Xander says as he hits Spike again to get his attention "What about you ?"

"Nothing much practice"

"You guy's got a gig soon ?"

"Ya this weekend"

"Cool"

"Ya''

"OW WHAT THE BLOODY HELL WAS THAT FOR!" Yelled Spike as he snaped out of his daydreaming state by Xander hiting him (for the sixth time) and hits Xander

"OW i was just trying to bring you back to earth you did it again" Xander explained while rubbing his arm

"Oh" Was all Spike said

"Ya man what's up with that you keep doing that more often latley?" Asked Oz

"It's 'er she's been getting to me more latley I try not to let her get me but i drowndin' in 'er." Spike said with his head in his hands he was miserable, and Oz and Xander glanced at one another having been through this before and then the bell rang for first period to began. So with three sighs they all packed up and went on there way.


Half way to first there was an anouncement over the intercom

*"Will Buffy Summers and William Giles please report to the principals office. "*

"Ms. Summers this is Mr. Giles" Said Snyder the principal who Cordelia Chase descrided as a ' Stuck-up little natze with a bug up his butt the size of an Emu '

"I know who *he* is" Sneared Buffy shooting Spike a discusted look. "But what's it got to do with me?" She finished with caution.

"It is a match made in heaven." Snyder said this with a smirk and this scared Buffy and Spike.

" ' K so what's this all about?" Asked Spike Looking bored but feeling scared by how things were going Snyder had that effect on people.

"Ms. Summers meet your new tutor." Snyder smirked

"MY WHAT" Buffy shouted

It was Spikes turn to shout "Her what..."

"Why..."

"What..."

"No... "

"How..." They both stuttered at the same time then looked away shyly but were all business when they looked back to Snyder.

"Yes, because I say so and I want to get rid of you Ms. Summers and with your grades that does not seem to be posiableand also Mr. Giles needs help on an English projecthe needs to pass for graduation" and this was all said with a smirk

"Now get to class "

"This just bloody well ain't right and you know it " Spike erupted with that Snyder fixed him with an icey star and when Spike didn't falter with his anger Snyder said very matter-o-factly.

"Ain't.Isn't. A word.............Now. Get. To.Class. And learn that." And with that they left. Buffy and Spike pretended not to notice the electricity that flew between them as they bumped into each other when they left the main office building into the breezway.

"Okay look ." Buffy said out of the blue witch caused him to jump a little "We can start today ,after school ,as much as this is going to kill me I don't wanna be stuck here next year, we can meet at my house just make sure no one finds out."

"Don't worry I will be a good boy...................... so... do I get a little study time out of this." Rasing an eyebow suggestivly. Buffy knew what he ment and so very much wanted to be with him but like always she put thoes feeling aside and pushed him into a wall.

"That is descusting." And with that she walk off to class. Spike thought about how no one else he knew could speak to him with suck venom in there voice....and not mean it. He knew her well almost too well and he saw it in her eyes that she still liked him. This just gave him the perfect chance to prove it now he just needed a plan.and fast.

The only reason that Buffy went to class today was to get her make up work and some extra credit just in case. When it was time to go home she got in her car and headed that way but she stoped when she saw Spike with his bike and a flat tire. She would have just keep on going but for some reason she had to stop and offer him a ride home.

"Okay today and only today I take pity on you Put your bike in the trunk and get in."

"Oh how kind of you to take pity on the less fourtunate"

"Just get in will ya"

"Okay I just need help with my Math and Reading." They were in her back yard with their bookes on the back pourch. " OK so what is your project suposed to be I mean a essay or what?"

"Erm ya just an essay five pages but they don't have to be front and back it is suposed to be on this play"

"So if this is an English thing why are you doing it on a play "

"I dunno it is this bloody teacher that they gave me I think he hates me "

"Who is he ?"

"Soddin' Mr. Rowe"

"Oh ya he hates me too don't sweat it.... OK so what is the play"

"It is called Romeo and Juliet I have herd of it I just and never read it ...so he told me to read it or acted it out or something"

"OK lucky lucky you one I have read it two I have the book "

"OK so lets get started where is the book ?"

"First do you know who Shakespere is?"

"No"

"OK me frist we could get this done today and then teach you all about a famouse writer tomarrow and then have you read a book and we can act out the parts you don't get." By the time he had to go home they had finished all of Buffy's make-up work..

"So is that all of it?" He said this as he got up to go.

"Yup I will see you tomarrow "

"OK I just need my bike form your car"

"Oh right come on" After they got his bike he turned to go home.

"Spike ...thank you "

"Any time so um so are you gunna study wit' me or wha' " she fixed him with a steely glare as he chuckled "Lighted up kitten it is only a joke. but if your up to it" At that she had to smile cause he was being silly just like when they had played.

"Good night Spike hey you never know I might change my mind and wanna study sometime"

"Night kitten" He chuckled and they both went inside.

As the days went by Buffy and Spike sat in the back yard as Buffy did her home work to keep up her passing grades, every so often asking Spike for help, and Spike read Romeo and Juliet. After about two weeks Spike finished the book and through it down on the table starteling Buffy as he did so and him saying.

"Ok. I'm finaly done with that soddin' book and didn't under stand a bleedin' thing in it!"

"Spike, I told you if you didn't understand something in it then we could acted it out for you.

"Well it wouldn'y have helped none I was confused through the whole story and the bloody report is due in three weeks"

"um...er..Spike ....."as she said this she started fidgeting and would not meet his gaze.

"Buffy what is it? " He was starting to get worried

"um ....why don't you come over later and we can just watch the movie, I read the book and watched the movie and it is just the same"

"You mean to tell me that you had the soddin' movie to this blasted book and you still made me read it." He didn't even know he was starting to raise his voice "That is it Summers you'er in for in now " He looked around and spoted the pool it wasn't that far a way since they were in his back yard today.

She saw what he was looking at and yelled "Spike you wouldn't " He grinned wickedly "Don't you dare this is a white shirt .." He picked her up, by this time Giles, Jenny, and Joyce had stood out side to watch the two. Spike picked her up and ran tward the pool and jumped in with Buffy as she screamed.

When they surfaced she splashed him and tried to dunk him under again ,neither noticed ther her shirt was see through and one could see her lace bra underneath,"Damn you Spike!!" She yelled as she (again) tried to dunk him and slpash him so he went under and graded her by the waist, lifted her out of the wate rand held her tight to him to calm her down. It did some what because of being so close to him and the throbing that happened every time he was this close started again. Mean while he was hoping that with her being so near she didn't realize the bulge in his pants. She wanted to kiss him so badly and was going to if he hadn't spoken and sho0ok her out of any thoughts of kissing him then and there.

"Language Kitten, and. Hey! serves you right making me read that book "

"I thought if you could understand the book you could get a better grade on the damn report !"

"Oh"

"Look just come over after dinner and we can watch the movie and since it is Friday we can stay up later and work on an outline to it. OK?"

"Ya. Ok " He looked defetedly down and then started laughing

"What's so funny?" Forgeting about her shirt untill he said

He finaly managed to get out ."Nice shirt" With that Buffy looked down and remembered her shirt turning a bright shade of crimson and tried to cover herself with her hands which only made him laugh harder

But she didn't find any humor in it. "Whatever" She turner around and hoped he didn't see the tears that coursed down her cheek and she climed out of the pool.

But he did and stopped laughing quickly and realised what he must have done to make her cry and climbed out after her ,and was at her side when she reached the table. She started to pick up her bookes but he stoped her and pulled her into his embrace even though she wasn't crying any more her stroked her hair to comfort her.

"Buffy come on luv, I didn't mean nothing by it ...shh I'm sorry Pet. Come on lets get you dried off " She noded at that and he lead her home.

Jenny, Giles, and Joyce all stood in Jenny's kitchen and watched the young pair with knowing smiles untill Giles broke the silence by saying "I don't think they realize any of it at all"

"Which part? That they are perfect for each other?" replied Joyce

"Or that they are so in love?............Nope I think they are totaly clueless."

Buffy and Spike were on her back pourch after the pool thing.

"Buffy are you sure you are okay?"when she looked in his eyes all she saw was concern and some thing else but she couldn't put a name to it exactaly.

"Yhea I'm fine, thank-you"

"No problem, I'm just going to leave you here i think you can get changed with out my help, that and I don't want to get you house even more wet with me in there which reminds me that I have to also go changeso I will see you later for that movie." And with that he tunred to walk away.

"Spike! For future refrences you babble when you'er nervous." And then she was inside and couldn't hear him stuttering to find the rights words or any words would have been good for him at this point.

The end credits rolled for Romeo and Juliet it was 9:30 at night and Spike had three pages of notes and information for his paper.

"Ok waht do you got for notes..." She took his notes and began to skim them through. "Damn Spike these are good notes now if we just skim the book and ya know check a make sure that it matches up this will be a good paper."

"No! I want nothing to do with that bleedin' book ever again."

With a roll of her eyes she said. "Ok you big baby I will check the notes it will take a little while so I dunno just hang out here." And with that she started looking up the notes.

At around midnight she finished revising his notes. She leaned back to yawn she found Spikes legs in her way she looked over at him and he was stretched out on the couch fast asleep.He had one arm over him stomack and one behind his head. With his hair trossled he looked very boyish in very hot and sexy sort of way. Then he started to make the weiredest noise from his throut, Spike was growling! and mummbling in his sleep. Then when she leand closer she could hear him he was growling and whimpering.

"Stay" He pleaded

"...Don't go....don't leave me again...can't lose you" Buffy was trying so hard not to laugh and then she registered waht he had said. Her heart broke for him and she knew she souldn't but she had to know so she laid down beside him and he whimpered.

"Don't go"

So she asked. "Who's leaving?" Another whimper

"Buffy...kitten" She wanted to cry because 'Kitten' was his nickname for her when they where little .He hadn't called her that for years.

"Why don't you want Kitten to leave?" Another whimper

"Because she doesn't know yet!"

"What's Kitten supposed to know?" At that Point he started to twitch and shake and mummbled something like 'I'am drowndin in you Summers'. Then he jolted awake to look into a pair of big green eyes that were all teary

"Buffy. Pet.Whats wrong?" They were both sitting on the couch now that he was awake she sniffed and then asked.

"What's Kitten supposed to know?"

"That I can't live with out her" So with that said and another sniff he wraped his arms around her and they both laid back down and fell asleep that way.

The next morning Joyce couldn't help but think she was losing her little girl. Buffy and Spike were holding each other in such a way that even a blind person could see that they were in love with each other and if Spike was any thing like the little boy William she used to know she couldn't think of a better person to give her little girl to. Spike woke-up to the feeling of being watched
"Joyce what are you doing in my room?" She simply raised an eyebrow as he looked around from where he was " Okay I remember now, sorry we kind of fell asleep here doing homework....sorry."
"Spike, there is no need to apologize I understand .......Spike?"
"YA"
"You'll take care of my little girl won't you?" For a minute he was compleatly confused by this question then he realized that he was holding onto someone...Buffy. "Of course I will. I know what she went through.I won't hurt her. I couldn't. Even if she doesn't see it now."
"She will. Trust me. she will" With that said Joyce left them alone to go make breakfast.

"I do you know" Buffy said after a few moments. She knew that Spike had been watching her. When they were little Jenny, Joyce, Spike, and her would go camping on those rare ocasions that Hank would leave on business. They would all share a tent and Spike would watch over her to keep her safe, because he was her hero he kept the bad things away. Espesialy in her dreams, the really bad dreams were Hank would come back thoses were the times when she would wake up in a cold sweat and Spike would rock her untill she could sleep again.

*Bloody 'ell she is so beautiful. I love 'er so much. Why can't I just stop bein' such a git and tell 'er already!?!?!* This is what Spike was thinking as he watched Buffy as she slept...or so he thought. He was so deep in he jumped and almost yelled as she suddenly spoke.

"Do wha' now, Pet?"
"That you wn't hurt me. That you'll take care of me. Forever? Isn't that what you always told me? Remember?"
He smirks and says "Ya Luv, somethin' like tha'" They laid there for a few more moments and then Spike had to go home to change and all that jazz.

Spike walked into the kitchen an hour later and about the same time Buffy came in and breakfast was ready.
" 'Morning Joyce, Buffy. Mum said 'ello too. Whats to eat?"
"Good morning Spike. Well I guess that I will have to go visit sometime. And to eat is waffles and bacon." She busied herself with getting ready to leave.
"Arn't you going to have something to eat mom?"
"Oh no honey, I have to out of town for a few days. The gallary needs new artists and new pices so I have to go to New York for a convetion there. I will have to leave for the airport in about an hour."
"Oh, Ok then have fun mom." Buffy didn't really want her to go but at the same time her and Spike had finish his paper and it was coming along nicely.
"How long will you be gone Joyce?" He really like Joyce she had been like a second mum to him every since he had moved here. But he really wanted to be alone with Buffy not only did he need to get his paper done but he really liked Buffy and not just in the friend way. In fact he hadn't liked her like that since they were little
kids playing Hide and Seek.
"Oh about a week."
"So you should be back for gaduation mom?" Although Buffy wouldn't admit it she really wanted her mom to be there when she walked for graduation and to see her when she went to her Prom *IF I go to Prom that is.*
"I should be" Buffy bit back her smile but for Spike it didn't go unnoticed. *I will have to ask her about that latter*
"Come on Spike we should probably get working on that paper if we are going to finish it in time."
"Ya, hold on Pet and let me finish up putting these away."
"Okay"
