That the duster would loose some of Spike's smell was bound to happen because Spike wasn't wearing them. But Giles left on his own account. Another one left Buffy. But talking to Tara was a good thing. And now for Buffy Spike is gone too after his last sent vanished. ~ There was another POV; I wonder if that was Spike, being somewhere. Indeed! Now when Buffy has giving up him he's back. I hope she'll be happy again if she comes home :)

Author's Response: I think that Tara makes for a good confidante; I was glad to see Buffy open up to her on the show, despite the fact that I didn't like the subject matter. :P The bit near the end will be coming up later; keep it in the back of your mind! Glad you're still enjoying my story. :)

This is wonderful; fascinating AU you're building here. And a believable way for Buffy to come to care for Spike; her abandonment issues serve him well for once!

And glad to see Spike back again. I like his dazed and confused state! But poor Buffy is going to be in for a shock in a bit! Hopefully soon!!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying my story. :)

You are seriously breaking my heart with this fic. If I wasn't helping you plot it your adopted sister, I'd be very ready to throttle you for your evil cliffhangers.

Really, hon...I can't wait for more. *wiggles*

Author's Response: Hey! I'm plotting most of it! Thhbt. And you won't throttle me because you know you love me. :D

Yes! Awesome! Well-done, I watched Bargaining the other day and you captured that really well-- much love for this. :) And sadness to Buffy not being there! But much joy for Spike going there, like it's his home. You know? :) Can't wait for more from this. Oh, and I love your title-- it's really unique. :) Update soon!

Author's Response: ::grin:: Instincts are pretty powerful things. And I'm glad you're enjoying the story...I chose the title because the concept of this fic is obviously an alternate S6; more specifically, to show that certain events will happen no matter what, but overall it's the-same-but-different....it's chiral. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Ohhhhh...he'sbackhe'sbackhe'sbackhe'sbackhe'sback!!!! Cannot WAIT to see what happens next! Spike winding up at Buffy's while she's at Spike's crypt is a nice and poingnant touch.

Author's Response: This wouldn't be much of a Spuffy fic if he didn't come back....at least, not much of a HAPPY Spuffy fic. :P I'm so glad you're enjoying the story!

It’s a quaint symbolic human custom traditionally exhibited during the mourning process.

BRILLIANT Anya-line. And even though you and I have discussed the "gravestone" scene many times before, it was quite different...seeing it played out. Even from what I had imagined. Again, the pacing - while I'm tearing my hair out waiting for Spike's return - is brilliantly done.

Your last line about killed me, too. *sigh*

Ohh, and congrats on the nominations, h0r. :P

Author's Response: I love that line so much.

Author's Response: And the gravestone scene went much differently in MY head, and I wrote the damn thing. I figured that Tara's mention would finally prod Buffy into revealing the thoughts that have been kept bottled up over the past several months, and she'd finally be able to talk to Tara, but nooooo. I got to that point, and Buffy said to me, "Get me the hell out of here," and I'm not about to argue with her. Because...yeah.

Again, your characterization just blows me away. I love how you've gotten into Buffy's head, and how her thoughts are so realistic and flow very well from the vantage point that you started at. You haven't had her come to any sudden realization, but you haven't gone too slow, either. The pacing in this fic is amazing.

And I just gotta c/p a couple lines I liked:

“I’m the Slayer. It’s not like it would be hard for me to break down this door.”

So very Buffy.

And this one about broke my heart:

Buffy locked the door and went to meet her friend, hoping that Spike would not follow her there, and wishing he would.

Wonderful stuff, sweetie!

Author's Response: That line about Spike following Buffy nearly killed me, too. Seriously. It's just...gaagh. I'm just worried that because I've been in Buffy's head so long, I'll have a problem with getting into Spike's when he comes back. I mean IF! IF he comes back! NO SPOILERS. :P

Buffy's subconsciousness worked things out, that's why she saw Spike becoming her. And she's still missing him...
I understand why she didn't want a gravestone. It makes Spike being dead too real. ~ Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: That subconscious has a lot to answer for...glad you're still enjoying the story!

I am really enjoying your fic. While I have read several stories with this basic premise, most have been short and somewhat light in terms of the emotional aspect of what Spike's choice might mean. I find the development of the gradual and realistic progression of emotion in your story much more appealing. Looking forward to the following chapters.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

A grave stone would mean he was really gone, and in this world, who ever stays dead? I think her reaction is quite appropriate. Great chapter.

Author's Response: Indeed! Stupid Buffyverse and changing the rules of death. :P Glad you're enjoying the story!

I'm really enjoying your take on the inner workings of Buffy's mind. She's able to sort through a lot of emotions in Spike's absence that she refused to face in his presence. I'm looking forward to how you're going to skew Season 6 in the rest of the story, and how you're planning to get Spike back as more than a memory.

Author's Response: You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to skewing S6. Seriously. I think a lot of Spuffy writers feel the same way, but...it's just something I'm really looking forward to. :)

As always, a great chapter. I like the way you've brought Buffy's character along. I always hated where Joss brought Buffy 2 steps forward, just to bring her 3 steps back. Just to help nudge your muse along, "let the fun begin!"

Author's Response: Oh, the fun will indeed begin. ::grins:: I'm glad you're liking the story!

I think Bufy's reaction to the suggestion of a gravestone for Spike rings very true, and her musings as she waits for the flegling to rise work well. I'm still loving this story.

I like the imagery in this chapter; Buffy's dream has a very surreal feeling to it. Nicely done!

Your version of Buffy's post Grave summer makes good sense, and the writing is very evocative. I feel the stasis she can't seem to shake. Poor Buffy; that's a lot of responsibility for a 20 year old. And it sounds like things are about to get interesting!

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Author's Response: While I severely dislike the way Joss Whedon handled Buffy in S6, I think one of the things he did get right was her reaction to suddenly shouldering responsibility; I think she would have been more open to it had she not had to deal with her own death and resurrection as well. And things are indeed about to get interesting. ::grin:: I'm glad you're enjoying it!

I just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this story! Your AU makes logical sense, and I like that Buffy is having a difficult time dealing with all the changes in her world. Suddenly being responsible for a teenager is a Dig Deal; and it's nice to see that dealt with.

Author's Response: Oh, yay. I'm glad you think that my AU isn't totally...well, AU. And you're right, it's a huge deal for all this responsibility to be suddenly thrust upon Buffy, and I think she would stumble along the way. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
