I have to agree with a lot of the other readers when I say that I don't like this Spike very much. His actions with Dru are certainly not backing up the words he has for Buffy. Nonetheless, I'm hooked and will be waiting for the next update. You are a talented writer and if anyone can redeem this Spike, I'm sure you can!

Hey I'm totally hooked! Spike's to-ing and fro-ing is still making me dizzy (in fact that's the song I'm humming to myself as I'm typing this, heh) but it's so real that I can't help but follow it. It's not the mature way to approach our love lives but I've seen it sooo many times...looking for greener pastures but making sure you keep your foot in the gate of the paddock you're currently grazing in! Sorry for the farming imagery but I've been helping out on my relatives dairy farm this past week, LOL. Anyway I'm really glad Buffy finally admitted her (then) feelings for William AND that she made sure he understood that William is NOT Spike. He seems to have a come a long way from being the friend and trusted confidante that he was when he and Buffy were friends, and I don't know that I like all of the changes that he's made. Then again, that's also what real life can be like and it isn't until we're forced to take account of ourselves sometimes that we realise becoming a grown up isn't only about adding years to your age or hair to your hairy parts, LOL! More soon please 8-D

He's so madly, passionately still in love with her that just the afternoon before he was sticking his tongue down Drusilla's throat... GAH! How shallow... If meeting her again had really meant that much to him, and if he were any sort of gentleman, he wouldn't string Dru along, he wouldn't feel like tonsil hockey with another woman, he'd be obsessed with the woman he purporting to love. Sound to me like he wants it all.

If he feels obligated to Dru, that obligation should either stop him from interfering in Buffy's life so that he sticks with Dru, or he should be totally honest with Dru and tell her he doesn't love her anymore. In fact, even if he doesn't get Buffy, if he doesn't love Dru in the way a man in love should, he should still be honest with her.

Do you think I'm not liking this Spike much? Hmmm. me too. 's all your fault wattie! You wrote him like this. Now just you jolly well unwrite him like this and make him the go getting cavevamp I love. Send him limping from the hospital after Buffy and Riley. He has a finacee' who he tells he is hers alone - then he tries to get Buffy back ? Can't really say that I like this Spike. Certainly doesn't deserve any respect and if you can respect a man - how can you trust and love him? Hopefully he can change drastically - if he wants Buffy back.

Spike thinks that using Dru for sex for years is becoming a better man for Buffy? Don't like Dru - but a man that does that doesn't deserve love with anybody. Hopefully Buffy will find happiness with Riley.,

I felt kind of bad for writing such nasty things about our Spikey, but I guess other readers agree.
Actually, now that I think about it, the Spike in this story is alot like the Spike from the show. I never bought his tough guy act on the show, always felt he was more William anyway.
The real big bad was always Angelus to me, anyway and I always felt that poor Spike was she an also ran who tried to be like him for Drusilla's sake (for some wierd reason!)
Anyway, what I meant to say is this:

i don't particularly care for this Spike, however, i can see that this aspect of his personality needs to be revealed for the plot's sake.
I think a writer, like wattie, who can bring so much venting out is doing a great job!

He tells Dru he's hers and shags her in the hospital room (which he was against earlier in his stay) then turns around and tells Buffy that he could be her man if he would let her? He wants Buffy to be is and him to be Drus? He would throw away his fiancee just like that? I'm having a really hard time wanting this Spike to have anybody let alone Buffy. He is a user and coward. I don't blame him for the miscommunication years ago (except he could have told her he loved her instead of leaving it all up to her to voice - coward) but he has turned into an ass. Glad Buffy's with Riley. Don't know how this can ever be resolved.
