This story is fabulous!!! I love Meret and I can't wait to see how Spike and Buffy's relationship develops. Looking forward to more. :)

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm chugging along on a sequel if you're interested.

This is one of the most interesting and original pieces of fanfiction I've come across in a long time.

AYYYY!!!! SEQUEL, please!

You've got me totally addicted, you MUST write a sequel *weeps a little to gain some sympathy*/

I LOVE this story, and even tho it ended like this, it's a great end for a sequel. I hope us readers will be able to enjoy the new fic soon :)

Thanks so much for sharing your fics. It's been a great joy reading them!

Author's Response: I'm planning on writing one! (And if I didn't, I think I have some people out there who might drop by my house with an axe.) I'm glad you liked the fic. Thanks for reviewing!

OMG, I'd just realised this. As a 101% Spuffy fan, I really can't believe this.

THERE'S NO SPUFFY INTERACTION SO FAR!

Omg, see how good you are? I'm totally hooked onto your fic even tho there's not a single bit of Spuffyness so far. I bet the others didn't notice too!

Author's Response: Heh, yeah. This is pretty Spike-centric for the first chunk of the story. I'm happy you're reading it anyway. Thanks!

Wow, I guess you really like Tara. I guess most people like her, I kinda do, too, but my impression was smashed when I saw her reaction in "Intervention".

I know Tara did show support to Buffy when Buffy confessed to her about the "relationship" with Spike, but the moment she said, "What, are you kidding? She's nuts!" the warm feelings I had for Tara's character kinda faded away as it told me that Tara isn't that much different from the rest of the Scoobies.

It's just my 2 pences, anyway.

Nonetheless, as I mentioned in the review I left for your other story, I'm loving it so far, and you're extremely talented. Some experienced writers wouldn't even be able to write well as you do, and you've only done 2! It's marvelous!

Thank you for sharing your fics. I hope to read more in the near future :)

Author's Response: I thought Tara was one of the most sympathetic characters on the show, even with the Intervention scene. I was really wanting to start working Spike into the Scoobies before any kind of real Spuffy relationship formed, because that whole idea of acceptance was my goal above and beyond the romance facet. After Dawn, Tara seemed like the next logical step. I'm glad you're liking the story. Thanks for the review!

Okay, let me clarify, honey. I took your angst pretty well...in fact, your kind of angst (although it hurts seeing Spike tortured) is the kind of angst I can take. Hey, as long as no one gets raped, or there are no Buffy/Others, I'm a happy girl. Thanks again! Loved your story!

Author's Response: That was just a limping attempt to joke with you about the review. I'm going to have to agree with you on your opinion on rape-related angst. I don't think I'll ever write about that. Not so sure about the Buffy/Other either. I guess only if I had a really, really good reason. Thanks!

This Story rocked my world! I can't wait for the sequel, hopefully with a little more Spuffy loving

Author's Response: I've got one I'm thinking about with a little more one on one and a little less "from afar" Spuffiness. I'm glad you liked the fic. Thanks for reviewing!

Wow, I think I'm in love with you - you know, in the platonic "fuck, could I admire your way of writing any more than this?" kind of way.

I started reading this story today and was unable to leave my beloved laptop berofe reaching the end.

I love Meret? I want a Meret of my own. (Stupid reality with it's stupid lack of supernatural creatures.)

But you know, you totally rock. This story is so not generic. It has an actual plot and all. And I really liked the way Spike's life didn't revolve entirely around Buffy, it's like you gave him an un-life of his own.

Author's Response: I keep threatening to strap some fake bird wings on my pet snake, but I think I might get bitten for my troubles. :-D I'm glad you liked the fic, especially the crazy plot. I really wanted to explore what Spike was like when nobody was looking, and it's good to know that the effort is appreciated. Thanks for leaving a review!

thanx so much for this wonderful story!! finally i could read the final chapters!! anyhow, thanx also for putting spike's last name...i had no idea joss had actually made one for him, though it's not great...well, it's his...and at least that mistery is solved ;) (though there were much much much better choices he could choose from ... and so many!!!) well thanx so much for this wonderful story!! and can't wait for the sequel...loved your new story too!!!

Author's Response: My last name has its not so great moments too, so I guess I can empathize with poor Mr. Pratt. I'm glad you enjoyed the story and thanks for swinging by my next one as well!

This was a woderful story!  I read the whole of it, in a day's time.  Sorry that I didn't review before now, but I was too caught up in the "reading."  I think what I loved the best about it was that you paced it well, instead of *rushing* into all of the relationships that evolved.  And the ending, in it's simplicity, was perfect.  Good show!

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was kind of expecting the open endedness of the last chapter to bug some people, so the reassurance is much appreciated. Thanks for leaving a review!

I didn't think a story that wasn't NC-17 Spuffy could hold my interest, but I just read the whole thing in one day because I couldn't put it down. Every word and sentence seemed edited for its petinance and easy progression of the plot. Not to mention that each character was captured so well it was as if Marsters and the rest portrayed the characters themselves in my head. And Meret was so endearing and delightful I realized I was waiting anxiously for a one sided verbal byplay between her and Spike that would leave me laughing in stitches. I was imagining her and Spike being caught out by a Scooby audience before they learned of Meret or before they became linked to Meret too so it appeared to the Scoobies as if Spike lost his mind the whole while Meret was laughing her little laugh.

Well done. I look forward to more of your stories in any category!

Author's Response: I'm flattered that you liked my characterizations so much. I knew going into this story that the lack of NC-17 material wasn't going to be a selling point, so I'm glad you gave the story a chance anyway. Thanks for the review!

lmao!!! Just LOVE how that ended. Oh, man, that was good. I had read the summary for this a few times, but gone by it. Glad I finally decided to read it after seeing it for like, the 10th ime. -lol- And you now are the proud writer of my favorite fanfic quote, "Curiosity might have killed the cat, but it was boredom that would eventually get Spike." Not to mention everything else in the story. I loved Meret, can't wait to see more of this. *g* I'll have to branch out to reading unfinished fics here. -lol- Also loved the storyline, with the Aztec idea there. Very good.

Author's Response: I'm glad my posting persistence paid off. ;-) I'm glad you liked the ending too, especially since it was kind of a mini cliff hanger. Thanks for taking the time to review!

I'm looking forward to the sequel of this wonderful story. As it stands, I still don't read unfinished stories because I hate having to wait and be cliffhanged to no end so it'll be a while before I get a chance to read about this again. But thank you for offering a different Season Six perspective; it certainly was a fun ride (even through the sever lack of Spuffy). It was a better light on Spike without having too much to do with redemption because it was sort of implied and never pushed, so that was one of the subtleties that I enjoyed very much in this story. Take care and I will be looking for the next finished installment. Good luck.

Author's Response: I set this story up to be more "for the love of Buffy" rather than the face to face relationship the two of them had. I'm leaving that to the sequel I'm planning on writing. Thanks for reviewing!

That was such a great story. Very well written!!!!
I love Meret the coatl. Such a great idea - a serpant with wings! And she is so sweet (I never imagined I could think a serpant is sweet).
I was completly hooked!! Normally I prefer Stories that center more around the relationship of Buffy and Spike but this was soooo wonderful. You gave the bond between Meret and Spike so much warmth and heart.
The story is sweet and filled with action. I loved it (I read it all in one day)!!! And I would love it if you wrote a sequel - I think you are a great writer!!!!

Author's Response: I can't claim the idea for a winged serpent, that particular creature comes from Mesoamerican mythology, but I'm glad you like what I've done with the coatls. Thanks for leaving a review!

Wonderful jaunt with a great new character. Hope that you have a sequel planned. What a great lead to the next segment with the ending, "Bugger". Thought that the fic was very well done for your first effort, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I was completely hooked on this story! I didn't plan on reading the entire story in one sitting, but once I read the first couple chapters, I just had to read on! Great job, and I look forward to reading any future adventures of Meret and Spike.

That was lovely, pet. Not much on the Spuffy, but I enjoyed the fact that it was Spike-centric. Hope the next installment will be just as good. More Spuffy, less angst and torture. Hee! I'm just in an inexplicably good mood today.

Nooooo! I so didn't want this one to end. I loved everything about this story and I'm glad you didn't force the whole Spuffy thing it all came off as natural. Especially if there's a sequel in the works. Make sure in your summary that you site that it's a sequel to Serpents. Oooh, or that could be your title Sequel to Serpents, it's got a nice alliterative ring to it don't ya' think? Anyway, thanks so much for writing this.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! I promise that it'll be obvious when I post the sequel(s?). I'm glad you liked my pace with the Spuffiness, because I know that I was taking my sweet time with it.

Haven't even read it yet, and may not. Just because Joss and some dumb-ass writer decided Spike's name was Pratt, does not make it canaon as far as I am concerned.

Joss can be an asshole and has a really mean and sadistic streak. Just because he is bright, doesn't make him a god. I don't bow to him on anything.

The name is an insult to Spike, the show, William and the fans. I was in hopes that fanfic writers wouldn't perpetuate sucha an insult. If the do, then
Hope the story is worth putting up with the name..

Phyliss

Author's Response: I was rather derisive of the name as well until I realized that William Pratt was Boris Karloff's real name. The author of the comic books has pointed out in interviews that Spike's name was meant to be a nod to that actor, and yes, the double meaning certainly fits Joss's sense of humor. As a fan of Karloff's movies, I decided to keep the name. I am sorry if that offends you.

You wrote:
I love reptiles so much that it's easy for me to forget that a lot of people really, really don't.

Oh, I don't hate reptiles or anything. I like them fine, and think they're rather neat, as long as they're in their space (preferably an enclosed space), and I'm in mine. It's when they start getting too near me, or are say, placed on my shoulder without warning, that I get unhappy. If I'd have woken up with a coatl on me, I'd have either flung her across the room or frozen and bleated in terror. But you've actually made me fond of a reptile on a level I usually reserve for mammals. So perhaps what we learn is, a story counts as an enclosed space for purposes of my comfort level. :D

/babble

Author's Response: Fair enough. That net was a little more broadly cast though, because some of the fic's other reviewers have pointed out their dislike of snakes. I, however, sometimes get in trouble at work for letting my snake hide in my hair. That tends to make my office mate jumpy, I wonder why... Oh, and Spike would have flung the coatl off of his chest as well. That's why I made him so very hung over. ;-)

No way!! It's over?! *Wails* I don't want it to be over! I want more! Lots more! I love this story! Very funny ending, but I don't want it to be an ending of the STORY, just and ending of the chapter! *Sniffles* Evil author. Brilliant author, yes. But still.... *Sigh* Very amazing job. I had a hard time pausing this story long enough to get some much needed sleep. I can't tell you enough how much I love this story, but I can try! I LOVE IT! It's well written, an original plot, an excellent plot, the characterization was dead on.. just wow. 10/10! =)
