Buffy’s voice became quieter, almost embarrassed. “I…I don’t know what it was like…where you were,” she said, “but for what it’s worth…I’m really glad you’re back. I…I missed you.”

Shock dueled with astonishment in his eyes, and Spike simply stood in the hallway, stunned. Finally, he pulled back to himself and replied, “Missed you too, pet.”

*sniffle* That was beautiful. Definitely worth driving across town to read. Yeah, so I'm addicted to the Internet. What's it to yah, wanna fight about it?.

Really...this was just...perfect. The pacing was awesome, the dynamic...it was just perfect.

Ah, Buffy found Spike and now after a closer look she's sure too that the vampire she found is indeed Spike :)
He knows he came back wrong? I wonder what'a the matter. Yes, he doesn't have all memories but what else? The chip.. Logically speaking Spike could be right; the duster stayed back too when he died.
I wonder how long it will take Buffy to tell Spike she loves him; but she did the first step and acknowledged it to herself. She even did give him some of her blood. Must be love indeed.
Looking foreword to the answer of Spike's question (though I think part of it is why Buffy needs him; or maybe because he is destined to be her champion) :)

Author's Response: I didn't mean to imply that Spike had lost his memories -- he really hasn't. I'm just mirroring the scene when Buffy came back, when she was running on solely primal drives, not even seeming to recognize her friends. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

i think buffy's not really fine... her life seems to get better, the relationship with dawn less strained, but... she is slighty falling to pieces. like when something big happen to you, and at first you're too shocked to feel the pain.

Author's Response: I think Buffy's very good at repressing what she feels; years of hurt will do that to a girl. And I love Tara as a confidante for Buffy.

This was a vividly detailed, emotional chapter. I loved Buffy's desperate run to Spike's crypt, and her devastation at finding it "[a]bandoned. Cold and unwelcoming, as it had never been before. Spike was truly gone.

Somewhere in the recesses of her mind was a list of men which had all summer, until this point, eluded revision. On it, she added Spike, the name of the one who was supposed to have stayed."

Spike's resurrection was also vivid, and his instinctual beeline for Revello Drive was a lovely surprise.

Author's Response: Thank you for this wonderful review! When the story was in its first rough outline, I knew I wanted to write the scene where Spike's duster no longer smells of him, and Buffy's subsequent trip to his crypt. I also had a lot of fun writing Spike's resurrection; although it was a little annoying because I constantly wanted to switch noun markers. Style dictated to leave it as was, using nothing but "he," but I still had to read over it a few times to make sure I hadn't inadvertantly slipped up before I revealed his name in the final sentence.
