This is well written and entertaining. You're doing an excellent job with the voices, and the dialogue is sharp and in character. You deftly handled the choreography in the fight with Glory, and wove in canon dialogue seamlessly. Buffy's visit to the crypt was richly detailed and vivid, and it left me wondering whether it was a flashback or a dream. No matter, the sentiments she expressed were wonderful to read either way. This story flows beautifully, and it already has me hooked. I'm looking forward to how Spike's sacrifice alters the Season 6 storyline.
Author's Response: To be honest, I was sweating bullets over the choreography with Glory; most of it was stolen (borrowed) from "The Gift", and I just put words to it. One of my weaknesses as a writer is writing fight scenes that are descriptive and interesting; one of my hopes is that by writing this fic, it will no longer be a weakness. Yes, i have read several stories like yours, but they are quite different. For one thing they only have Spike sucking the blood of Dawn or Buffy. Not fight with a goddess before his big finish. And then they either have him come back as a weak human, making weepy all the time and very much un-canon.
Your story is just fine as it is, original. Can't wait to see how Buffy will react.
Author's Response: When I was outlining the fic, I played around with the idea of bringing him back human, and decided against it. I like Spike as a vampire (doesn't everyone?), and it's canon that dead vampires have come back as vampires -- i.e. Angel. And I don't see Spike as ever really being weepy...I think he'd handle a return from Heaven/death much better than Buffy did, simply because he's been through it before. Approximately. Not hackneyed or cliched at all. I didn't mean to imply that in my last comment. Your writing is really excellent, and it's always interesting to see different authors start from a similar place and go in completely different directions. There is something hypnotic about the pacing of this story. It draws me in, and makes me long for more.

Maybe there is other stories similar to yours, but I have never seen them. I hae read a couple stories where Spike wished later that he had thought of taking Buffy's place, but it never actually happened.

I loved it, it was cool that Spike defeated Glory with a little help from Willow ofcourse. Your way probably would have happend if it hadn't been Buffy's show. The heroine had save the day.

Hi, I just started reading your story. I have read this set-up before: Spike drinks Slayer blood or some of Dawn's and jumps to close the portal. Having said that, there are infinite variations on that theme, and I look forward to reading yours. You are off to a great start!

Well the idea of Spike drinking/licking Buffys and/or Dawns blood and closing the portal has been done (often with a crossover) but that doesnt mean you shouldnt write the story as every author has a different vision. :)
After all - yours might become the best of all.
And so far you have a very interesting aproach (reversing Buffys and Spikes roles) and I am very curious as to how you will develop a story.
I like what I have read. :)
