Author's Response: Thank you! After the way I wrote Dawn early in the story, I really wanted to see a Spike/Dawn reunion, as their friendship never actually evolved as it did in canon (which was, assumedly, during the time between S5 and S6).

No, really, I've read Some Kind of Oil (updaaaaaaaaaaaaate!), and I think you have a great writing style, and definitely look forward to more from you. I like your story. And I had a root canal last year and it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. And I'm all cowardly and stuff. I suggest closing your eyes and listening to an ipod or walkman or something during the procedure. That worked really well for me. I just ignored the entire thing and listened to music and thought my own thoughts. And there wasn't all that much pain since the nerve is killed, so there's that. Good luck!

Everyone has their own unique way of telling a story so don't fret. There's just so much fanfic out there that unique ideas are rare but yet each fic is different. I can even give examples. Belonging by DoS, The Worst Betrayal by TC and Driedel By Constance all have Spike being captured and sold as a slave but the fics themselves are different and eachone is simply amazing. So, just tell your story the way you want to and I'm sure everyone will love it.

I loved Buffy's thoughts in the last scene. Especially that last line: "Instead, she sat and watched the gravesite, waiting for the wrong vampire to rise from the ground." Just beautifully done.
Author's Response: I had that line written and hanging around in the story document for chapters and chapters before I used it. Sometimes that's just the way it works!

Back with a soul? No wonder Spike's so disconcerted and acting all noble about Buffy's feelings. I don't know how I didn't see that coming...This was another entertaining chapter, and I really liked Spike's observation of Willow: "[T]here was something incredibly disconcerting about standing motionless against a cold wall while a red-haired witch ran critical and too-focused eyes over his body."
Author's Response: I liked that line...mostly because at the end of the day, Spike enjoys attention from women, but now he has this woman who is totally focused on him, and he's nothing but uncomfortable. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
