Author's Response: Still reading in school... >.> I did my term paper on Robert Frost, and that was about the time I wrote this chapter. I just felt the poem fit awesomingly in with the story. And Spike will take control, maybe too much.

That's really great... the poem lesson. I really despise the way some teachers do poetry interpretations. D: My sophomore year, we read this poem and my English teacher said exactly what Spike's did, haha. A bit annoying, really; she was quite unimaginative.

I absolutely loved the ending of this chapter, very well done.The dialouge was perfect and flowed, Spike's add ons were brilliant and brassy totally like Spike- and I enjoyed the reference to Frost's qoute- thought well used and relative. Spikes insert on noncomformity shows hes not the classic bully with an bruised inner child mentality. Both his insert and 'teaching a blowfish how to iceskate" had me rolling and proud. But I am surpised that as round as the characters buffy and spike are, the rest of the characters like Mr. Davis and Riley read to me as flat? I understand that they're supporting and not the main focus of the plot, but for being off center, when mentioned their qualities seem over emphasized. Dumb jocks and oblivious teachers. The story flows quite well, and the diaglouge between Davis and Spike is written well (loved spikes turnabout and explaination), however it's these few points of overemphasis that interrupts the story like a small speed bump for me. I liked how you showed his naiveness by describing his tenchinques (putting him on the spot, reading the note, etc), the characters read better to me in that sort of 'show, not tell' kind of way. But other times I got the feeling you were writing the same thing but in different words. But as usual I enjoyed this chapter =) another great one and I am so excited to read more!
Author's Response: Did I ever tell you you're my hero? :) Please, PLEASE make comments like this every chapter. I would love you forever. And not just the praise, but the criticism, also. The criticism is way more important to me because it tells me what I might be doing wrong, or at least what upsets readers. I tried to write Mr. Davis and Riley as flat as I could, to be honest. It's like a crutch, of sorts, because it makes Spike/Buffy all that much more round and endearing. The difference is black and white, night and day, between them. Eventually I might "cut the crap" and have a little popular/teacher sympathy, but now they're pretty much my vehicle to denouncing 'em. You can thank my mom for the blowfish/iceskate idea, we had to watch figure skating on Christmas. LMAO.

I think everyone is trying to catch up on stories due to Christmas events not letting people read. This is a very good story.

Spike teaching the class like that was freaking awesome! His line about the how the poem just IS, GOD!! I felt that way all through high school. I still remember how people wold pick apart and try and figure out why Frost repeated the last line in Stopping by Woods on a Snowing Evening. Then he finally told people that he simply thought it sounded good. HA! That's priceless that is.
And oh yeah, HOT scene in that there closet. ;)

Author's Response: My favorrrrrrrrite reviewer! =D Borrowed heavily from personal experiences in high school, where my teachers would always ask "what is the meaning of this poem?" and I'd just laugh. It's such an open-ended question; it's different for every person and every mood. Poetry, especially multi-layered deep stuff, can have so many meaning and people can interpret it in so many ways. That's what I was trying to convey, anyway. That and the worthlessness of high school. ;)
