hmm - i could have SWORN i left a review for this story and 'Murphy's Law', but apparently i was hallucinating - or just not right in the head ...
this is the second time i've read this and it's just as wonderful the second time around.
i'll be honest - i've always been uncomfortable with the ... um ... er ... 'details' but if the author can write a GREAT onion story, then i can definitely ignore uncomfort. (a great story vs uncomfortness - HELL it's a great story every time ... but i digress.) and heavens, can you write an onion story!!! [sorry, i can be rather ... odd - what i mean is lots and lots of layers with character and plot and drama and HUMOR (that last one - if you can get me to laugh i'm SO your fan for life!)]
like others, i'm so glad we got see a realistic time frame of their story, not just it happening so quickly. and you infused it with characters we love and lots of spunky, fiesty dialogue. [again, i get excited by character and and humor as opposed to the 'other stuff' - sorry not THAT type of excited ... ]
truly enjoyed seeing them together as 'friends', too (or friendlier than mortal enemies) - and i loved how willow explained a woman's view using the food analogy. PERFECT! (and still got a chuckle - in order to get a man to really see what you're talking about you sometimes have to use 1 (or more depending on his stubborness) his 3 basic needs ...well, if you count drinking it's 4 ... )
love that joyce and hank adore spike - and i loved how their relationship played in this fic. chuckle - and got quite the kick out of joyce; i always loved her character i think she was vastly underused and i loved her relationship with spike.
LOVED how spike got back at cordy, too - priceless!!!
not that violence is the answer to anything, but i wouldn't have minded buffy showing angel just what she did learn in the army; he always did need his a#@ handed to him ...
and i really enjoyed how you blended the military side of things as well. lots of interesting phrases, but i especially liked the comraderie, and not just because of the characters themselves.
again, enjoyed the wonderful story ride!

This story is smokin' hot!! I've always been a huge fan of your works, Im_bloody_English, and this is no exception. I'm sorry that this is the only review I left for you, but I read this now in March 2008 from start to finish and I'm just.... let's just say that I read this nonstop until 4am and ready to puke from tiredness, k? :D I couldn't put it down for the next day because it's just that great! I was addicted.
I love the way you make the couple fight and realistically make them fall in love (some other fics are so... er.. quick) slowly. Trust is a slow process. That's how it is in real life and I think with some of your starts like "4 weeks later..." "Eight months later..." it just goes to show that life is indeed like that, no shortcuts about it. And that is the one grand point that I'm so delighted about with this fic. This story is a MASTERPIECE! You've done an awesome job with it and I can't tell you how many times I laughed - a rare thing with fics. :D You have a killer sense of humor!!
Also, I find it educational as well (*gasp* did I just use the word "educational"?! It's a smut fic with plot for Christ sakes!) since I'm not from the U.S. and find soldier life very interesting.
From start to finish, I can't praise it enough. It's bloody brilliant! *smooches* Love it love it love it!

LMAO, there's just soo many good things in this chapter that i can't site them all. i was soo happy when you brought Lorne in and Xander too. LOL Spike passed out! that wuss. and i just loved this whole story. you did such an AWESOME job!!!!! i loved this ending pic and the pic of the car in the previous ch. where the hell did u get that?? anyways, i couldn't picture a better ending for them and i can't wait to read more of your stories. I just finished this fic, and really truly enjoyed it. Not only was the writing great, but I feel like you really maintained the same dynamic that Buffy and Spike have on the show, a battle of power, which is what is a lot of AU fan fics are missing. I absolutely loved it!

Hi. First off, I’d like to apologize for never having reviewed before in any of your chapters. It’s very selfish of me, since you take your time to share your fic with us, and the least anyone could do would be simply giving their opinions on it.
But your last chapter encouraged me to review. “In the ARMY Now” was a blast to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it, all stages of it. How you used Buffy’s & Spike’s feelings toward one another from the show and how their perception of one another slowly develop in time into something more, and how you brought that same part of the show to your fic, was one my favourite things among many in your fan-fic.
Usually most fics build up the whole storyline to finally getting ‘em together and then they naturally end soon after. Not that those aren’t as enjoyable, but I really liked how you continued on even after they already loved each other and were basically settled down.
I loved reading about things related to the Army. I have zero knowledge on that area, but I think reading your fic helped a li’l on my ignorance on this area.
Truth be told, what made me really adore your fic above many others, was how you mentioned throughout some of the author's note how some parts of the storyline were basically based on real life events of your life. I thought that was extremely nifty. Knowing you went through similar points of Buffy’s life in this fic and probably more and made some of the storyline from personal life experience, made me have a lot of respect for you, especially in the Army-related aspect. Reading your fic gave me a lot of interest in this particular sort of stuff (And I mean “sort of stuff” in no disrespectful way possible… I just don’t know what name specifically I should use when talking about this), and having a whole lot more respect for those who go through it till the end and decide to serve their country.
Another think I enjoyed a lot about your fic, was how you presented Buffy’s parents. Most fan-fics never have ‘em still together. Maybe I’m a li’l silly for liking such a small addition to the storyline so much, but it really kind of touched me. Most fanfics usually follow with the concept of the show’s storyline, or at least has Hank as a right bastard. And I loved how you made Joyce & Hank not only still together but still playful toward one another, and not all bitter like, unfortunately, most married couples end up like. It actually made me a li’l sad; but happy sad… I tend to usually imagine that after you’re married, the love, passion, respect, the teasing and playfulness slowly vanishes into thin air with time, till there’s only bitterness & disregard left. Like I see with every married couple around me, and my parents having given me a good ol’ front view on that sort of stuff. And, yeah, maybe it’s a li’l lame, but it gave me a small new perspective on that area, so I have much to thank you.
Anyway, maybe the ghost after people-who-don’t-review caught up with me, and now I’m writing this long ass comment and probably making you glad I never wished to review before. So, anyway, I’d just like to thank you for sharing some of your personal experiences through the characters of Buffy & Spike (Naturally, I believe you might’ve changed things here and there to fit in the storyline through ‘em, but I still adored it. Made it more special, somehow), and bringing forth and sharing this amazing Spuffy fic with us. And would like to wish you a good luck with life. = )

I can't tell you how happy I am you've truly enjoyed my Spike and Buffy in this one. I did try to keep their canon personality as much as possible throughout it because that's the best way to keep the constant banter going. Not to mention it's funny for me to write Spike as getting back everything he ever did to her. I'm happy the Army stuff wasn't to dry for you. It was definetly an experience that's made me a better person overall - both the through the good times and bad. As for Buffy's parents, I just felt it wasn't necessary to have them canon. A happy household made for hilarious situations here and I adored writing the whole in-law thing. I think, and speaking from 10 years of being married, that a marriage is what you make it and although it does evolve over time, it can get better thru the years. I'm happy to report that's where my own marriage stands. This was such an awesome review darling, I really can't thank you enough - it has me grining madly from ear to ear. Hugs you tight.

Wow. I really loved this story. There was lots of passion and chemistry between them and it was fun to watch them come together. I also loved how Joyce and Hank were portrayed in this fic. While drama is nice sometimes its always great to see the loving family and great jokes. Very well done.
