I would have never guess that Dru and her father don't have a good relationship. Poor Dru.

I think William doesn't really realize that Buffy wants to be his friend. I still think he just thinks that they are only talking because of him helping her with his work. I feel bad for Buffy because she wants to be his friend. But she needs to tell him how she feels. Cause I don't think William will get the memo if Buffy didn't tell him that she wants to be real friends.

Glad William noticed that Buffy noticed he was gone. That sounds crazy, but you know what I mean. Love that poem; I remember bawling my eyes out when John Hannah recited it in Four Weddings. Can't wait for your next installment.

The joys of WIPs... when I read the Spike/other warnings I always fear the worst to happen. *sigh* (sorry, I'm in a not so good mood)
William was lucky when he was buying flowers. Anne liked them but he has to go back to school anyway ;-) Yeah, the hospital bills will be big, extra money wouldn't be bad.
Seems at the moment William will do his best to avoid Buffy. (Even he cherished the thought that she missed her.) That's an haunting poem. I've read it before because somebody posted it as a reminder that a friend had died.

Poor William. That boy is going through so much. With losing his father and now his mother being sick. It doesn't look well for his mother. I hope she gets better but something tells me you are going to make that a sad ending for William and his mother. Spending his little money on flowers for his mother was so sweet.

Calling Dru and asking for a job was a good idea. William is the type of guy who has to do something. And if money is tight he knows he has to work. Dru is an odd one, indeed.

I like how Willow was asking Buffy why she cared so much about William. It was like Willow wanting to see was Buffy intentions were for William. Willow looking out for William. Love it.

I hope William talks to Buffy soon. Cause I don't want Buffy to think that William doesn't want to talk to her.

it was perfect. I just got on this site and look I saw this story on top. One of my favorites. I usually don't leave such long reviews with other stories but I can't help it with this one. Keep up the wonderful work.

Buffy is starting to see Spike (William) :) But William hasn't forgotten that Buffy didn't want to be seen with him. If she really wants to be his friends she'll have to prove it. Yeah, not sleeping can make your grumpy. ~ All caught up now; looking forward to more.

That's bad, William's mom is very ill? A lot of things changed; Buffy seems to be drawn to Riley after Angel being with Cordelia now. And William turns into Spike. Well he had enough 'spiked' drinks (alcohol to drink) too.

So Dru's father owns the gym; therefore she was there.

I was worried that what he said about not being friends might get people annoyed at him too. But I thought it was right for him to say it, because they haven't really been friends yet. I love this story and this was a great update. Poor William is feeling so awful and I admire Buffy for trying to take care of him and for caring enough to be his punching bag for a few minutes. William is so exhausted he simply doesn't have any filter and no reason to hold back. It was good for him to say those things and good for her to hear them. Hopefully after some sleep they can have more of a decent conversation.
And as another reviewer said...hopefully this can be the start of their romance!

Poor William. Everything is so hard for him right now and made worse by the fact that he seems to be one of those guys who resents it when he's deeply attracted to a girl and that translates into being angry with her all the time. Poor Buffy with her good heart, can't seem to fathom what she's done to deserve his anger. So sad. Hope they can connect on some level soon. Beautifully and sensitively written as always. Can't wait for the next update.




Author's Response: Oh, this is one of the reasons why it's so interesting to get reviews, getting to see what other people think the characters are motivated by etc. See, I don't think William is angry at Buffy all the time because he's attracted to her. I think he's had specific reasons each time he's been angry. Seeing her with Angel put him in a bad mood (not Buffy's fault); what he perceived as her ignoring him at the Bronze on top of all the other times she didn't go out of her way to talk to him in public and also seeing her dancing with Riley; now, he's got those things in the back of his mind, plus she's seen him at his very worst, and he's usually pretty dignified and reserved so that REALLY gets to him. Granted the last one isn't her fault at all and the lack of sleep is what makes him raw enough to mention it.

Anyway, it's just really interesting for me to get a different take on things, so I thought I'd tell you mine. Thanks for reviewing and for the wonderful compliment!

Next update may take a little while. I wrote the last few in quick succession and now...I have nothing at the moment hehe.
