Good chapter. I don't know if I like the idea with Drusilla with a soul. It seems it would spell trouble for Buffy and Spike. Sort of like the disaster that was Buffy and Angel. I hope that is not where this story is going.

Those two keep driving me mad! Buffy is insecure but trying, Spike has his own inadequacy-issues, and in trying to figure things out seems uninterested... And where does Dru fit in?

So interestingly Dru is the one with the soul and I would assume has cast some sort of thrall over Spike. Was she having some kind of relationship with William? At least that would make him not quite so perfect in everyone's eyes, especially Buffy's. Can't wait for your next update.

So THIS is how it's gonna be!
A situation of sort of inverse proportions.
I think, at least so far, I love it.
I wondered and pondered how (and when) "the Vampire With A Soul" would come into the tale. And, of course, also WHO.
So, Dru... yeah, she crossed my mind...
But, so also did of course, Angel...since apparent skulking seemed to've been involved! Which, also is bringing to mind that so far "Human Ange l" ( not named Liam?) has seemed oh so friendly, helpful, gung-ho, and NON-sneaky...and perhaps MOST important, where Buffy is concerned, NOT obsessed/obsessive about her. Actually a nice change! But, I did, of course, wonder if he was going to fall in an attack or fight, and end up turned... voila!...an instant Angelus.
And, of course, I wondered if William were the vampire: whether he'd been turned, Slayer-turned-Vamp notwithstanding, lying in "his own" blood could've easily have been faked...it could've been pigs blood or any kind for that matter, the bite could look the same. I didn't initially catch the part about being found lying in his own blood. I did realize it would prove to be just about the most painful thing for all, especially for Buffy, if it were William returned as a Slayer-turned-Vamp...and of course, the question of whether or not they kept their souls...
Wondered as well if it would be Faith...SHE would have the Angelus-like obsessive personality and possible mean-streak...inversion of character gender (ie was Ang---m., write in Faith, a f. character), but begs the question whether she'd be obsessed w/Buffy, or Spike...
SO...back to where it's actually apparently AT: Drusilla! Is she cursed with her soul? By Gypsies? (By the church that she loved would be ironic, for her) Or, did she seek it out? I see she isn't wearing Nikki/Nicky? Wood's coat, BTW. So...30 yrs ago, ie...1977...(the yr. *I* graduated HS...makin' me feel OLD...grumble...grumble...grrr...grrr...) hmmm...other than NYC/Nikki-Nicky...(OR the Angel-like scene of weakness at the robbed diner during disco-days, shown on AtS) WHAT could've brought about Dru's ensoulment???
Obviously, she has, and uses thrall...and is having to use it to, at least initially, keep Spike from instinctually trying to stake her. So, she thralls him, and spends time, the evening?, talking to him??? Is there something of dire import she is telling him, or is she just precariously spending time with Spike as a substitute for her apparently "Lost" William? WAS there something going on with her and William that no-one knew about? Is this going to open a can o' worms, and Buffy's eyes, re: "perfect" William, helping her to feel OK about moving on?
But, I get the feeling that, to a great extent, this tale isn't about "Buffy"...SHE isn't the Vampire Slayer; SPIKE is, in this fic, anyway. So, I gather we're gonna see some evolution of his character here, not just a simple split-personality between him and William.
It is refreshing to see Dru in a possibly positive light, no pun intended. (Ditto Angel, since he is usually such a jerk; and actually, ditto on The Scoobies, on both counts---nice to see their almost fresh, youthful-like enthusiasm, almost-non-control-freakish) I look forward to seeing Dru's role, and agenda. Do I gather she is not so much with the insanity in this one? What about her psychic abilities? I gather that Spike recalls her on sight---I figured that he either recognized her from Wesley's teachings or reading journals, or that perhaps he had known her as a human or undisclosed Vamp in London. So, under thrall, does he forget her between visits til he sees her again?
Obviously, you've piqued my interest, from the start actually! And I will faithfully follow it out til the finish. I'm enjoying it immensely.

Dusilla/Angel does the romance begin. I don't think he could take being another William replacement.
