That was absolutely beautiful. Masterfully done. The grief on both sides was so poignant. Buffy sacrificing her humanity to be with the man she loves, and Spike essentially killing the woman he loves, not knowing what's going to happen when she awakes. So very lovely, and I for one cannot WAIT to see what happens next!

Wonderfully written, the anguish and the finality of it all. Heartbreaking and hope-inspiring all in the same, how you managed that I've have no idea. The pain and fear in Spike is so raw and deep, it's just so... I have no words.

I think this chapter is of a caliber of its own, you could have it as a stand-alone fic, it's so good.

Okay, end of my praise :-) Now all you have to do is match the next chap somewhat with the caliber of this one, no problem right? ;-)

I am very sad for Spike. Once again he acts out of love. But he is forced into it.

He wants to keep her, but he also knows that if he doesn't do it, she will be lost. Lost to him, but also lost to herself. She has let herself fall for him, and she would do anything to keep him.

I think that Buffy acted in a selfish way. She didn't think of what Spike would feel. He had told her before that he didn't want her to be like him, that he liked her like she was.

It was asked on the impulse of the moment surely, but she did'nt think it through. What if she regrets it when she awakes as a vamp !
In the Jossverse not every vamp seemed happy to have
been turned (I remember Harmony saying that being a
vampire sucked).

Will she have enough love left in her to still love him or will she be cold and without any feelings left ?
I really am waiting for the answer.

She is not the Slayer, so she has no duty to think of. That's what probably made it easier to choose to be like him over trying to force him not killing humains.She didn't even thought of asking him not to kill. He probably could have tried... a little bit.

It is, for me, very different than to accept that your lover were a killer, it is about choosing to become a killer too. But why ? To not leave him and be without hope of finding something so deep again ? To not feel the guilt of her lover killing people ? Or because it's easier this way (well I mean that She thinks that maybe it will be easier this way), not to have to question your actions, no guilt.

But also I can understand her, because there is passion
between them. And you should always surrender when you find it, even if it never ends well.

I for one love this story and like you were brave enough to go this way. When I think many other authors might have had Spike say no to Buffy. I'm a fan of Spuffy as a couple. I wouldn't mind reading them together and them still killing humans. I always wanted to read a story where both Spike and Buffy were vampires but still eat people. It is something different. I just hope that for some reason Buffy doesn't have a soul. I hope she isn't too different but I imagine that she would have to change somewhat.

I felt for Spike in this chapter more than Buffy. Yes, she was giving up her life for him. But just the thought of killing the person you love and turning them into a creature of darkness. Must be harder than words can describe. I had tears in my eyes from reading that. And that takes a lot to do.

I love how this story is so different. I know this story isn't finished yet. But I know this story is going to one of all time favorite Spuffy stories for being so different. Your story "Need" is one of my favorites as well. I love shy William and take charge Buffy.

Can't wait for the next chapter.
