In my head though, Spike is nothing if not straightforward and after Wes made him see how keeping the bet under wraps could affect his relationship with Buffy, he just had to tell her, and ask her again to marry him, this time of her own volition and not because she was being forced by her father or him.

I figured Buffy would respond this way, if he laid it all out there, the reasons why. She's one of the few people he'd ever meet that wants to marry for love (or at least strong desire). She might have been a lot more mad before he rescued her and Joyce from Hank, but now....definitely earned her trust.

And Cecily will be too late for that plan! Ha ha!

Now to get Wesley and Fred on better terms...

Author's Response: Oh I agree, things have changed between them by now. The way he dealed with Hank, the way he has been looking out for her and her mother, the way he's put her well-being over everything else, is what leaned the balance on his favor.

And it will be nothing short of entertaining to see Cecily try to use that info now. ;)

Wow, *sniffles* William really did lay his heart on the line and YAY! Elizabeth gave him the right answer! I was so worried there for a moment, a very tense moment mind you, but it was all that tension that gave way to a wonderful release.

And oooooooo I HATE Cecily! And my god, you put every bitch in that carriage together, with Cordy being the only one with any remorse. I can't WAIT for that confrontation and SLAM - in your face Cecily, she already KNOWS! tee hee....sorry getting all worked up over it.

I just couldn't bring myself to crush his hopes, after all, he did fall for her, harder and faster than he imagined, and while his motivations at first were a little skewed, the change in him is obvious, even for Buffy. ;)
