Fabulous chapter and no wonder women of that era used fans with men like Spike about. Now where did I put mine?!! Loved it to bits.

Making Wes jealous is one thing... but making him feel he is not beneath Fred is another.. this plan might backfire if he ends up thinking Alasdair is a more fitting suitor.

Ah, Buffy's given in, at least for that moment. William's definitely worming his way in. She'll hardly remember Angel's name by the time he shows up again.

Seems like Fred and Spike are about to get their heart's desire. With any luck, Wes and Buffy will come to realize that they may deny their feelings to their mind but not their hearts. Look forward to more chapters.

Tee hee! Poor Wes... he got what's coming to him. It's going to take a bit longer though - I know you want to write the fun that is Fred and Alasdair. :P

OMG - you know you're absolutely brilliant, right? I mean the pacing of each scene, the way you left cliffy after cliffy for each???? GAH - kept me on the edge of my seat quite literally. Buffy is sooooooooooooo falling hard, and right alongside of Spike. I don't think he anticiapted much beyond his fascination with her other than to possess her, but he's slowly realizing how much he actually cares for her. And he's so devilishly cute in this. And poor Wes - to be tormented so cruelly by Fred. But he did bring it on himself in a way. I only hope he realizes soon that pride vs love is no contest at all, and sometimes, a little healthy competition can prove what is real where the matters of the heart truly lie. Such a lovely, brilliant and fabulous chapter carino... I am in awe and honored to help you out in any capacity I can... Luv you boo with all my heart.

I spent some wonderful time with your fic today, reading through from chapter one. I'm hooked, plain and simple! I love the characters, the intrigue, the language. The one thing that I found distracting, though, was Spike's speech. You have him dropping consonants, which would indicate a lower class accent. If he were a Duke, his speech would be more refined. But like I said, I'm hooked and am looking forward to reading more! Thanks!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I'm glad you've enjoyed the story so far. About Spike's speech though, well, he's a Duke yes, but as you must know there are very different dialects in Great Britain depending on the region. Each of those have different accents, it doesn't matter if they're low class or as in Spike's case, noblemen. Hope that makes sense to you. Thank you again for giving my story a chance!

PS. What is our dear fred going to do after she hears what's happened! heehee ;-D!

I loved how Spike left his imprint all over Buffy. ;) And I'm liking this look at Spike in big-brother mode, his plan is very clever... things should get really interesting and tense when Alasdair arrives. Fantastic chapter!
