I am broken as well. My eyes are red and swollen. My nose is stuffed up. A pile of damp tissue is next to my keyboard. I, most emphatically, do *not* cry pretty.

But that was worth it. Devastating and beautiful, much like William and Elizabeth themselves. I would have felt cheated if you pulled off a deus ex machina in order to end on a "happily ever after". *That* would ring utterly false. Who read the first 20 chapters of this tale thinking it would turn out blue skies and fluttery birds with William and Elizabeth frolicking back in the Bahamas? Not me.

Glad you broke here for the time being. Gives a chance for the de-puffing cream and eye drops a chance to work! Seriously, this has been a captivating and enchanting tale, and I'm so glad you have the artistic integrity to follow your vision, critics be damned. I'm looking forward to wrapping up this tale and moving on to whatever other gems you offer us.

Author's Response: Now I think I'm going to cry from hearing how moved you were by the chapter! Thank you for the reassurance about the ending--this is where the story needed to go even if it was a bit hard going through with it...I can't thank you enough for all of your feedback! It keeps me fueled! : )

Welcome back! So glad to see more of this tale. Hope your move went well and that everything is going great for you.

I cried at the desolation Elizabeth feels in this chapter. She knows that it's going end just as it all should be beginning and I feel her pain. I hope that Elijah's fate (surviving, albeit with Giles) in her dream/vision is able to give her some comfort, however small.

Off to finish the chapter....

Author's Response: Thanks for the welcome, and I very much appreciate the well wishes : ) I don't think this move will never end. Oy vey...I love that you were able to feel where Elizabeth is coming from here, and I think the vision did offer some reassurance, though of course not what she would have wanted.

Aww! I really hope she didn't die! Poor William! And yes, angst does suck, but it's necessary, and a lot of times it just makes the story so much lovelier. Which this story is. Very beautifully written and it's wonderful. Looking forward to your next update1

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing, Astoria! Well, she did die--but I promise the story will not close on a sad note. I'm happy you've enjoyed the fic! : )

I really like Fred in your fic. She's amazing, and I'm so happy to see Rupert back. :)

Author's Response: Glad you liked Fred. She's the sweetest character in the verse, I think, so I wanted to give her the loving nurse role.

whoa. INTENSE. beautifully beautifully written. angst can be quite deep and meaningful. I don't really know if that's angsty though, angst seems to imply dispair and sadness for no good reason, and you certainly have me buying their emotions. They actually seem slightly happier than I would be in the situation, which makes sense since she's so in love. Anyway, I have loved this story, thank you for writing it.

Author's Response: Thank you, NeomeBuffy! I appreciate your thoughts on the angst issue. Aw I'm so happy that you've loved the story! Thank you so much for reading and taking time to give feedback!

Who the hell is flaming you? I hate these people.

This story is beautiful and while yes, it is painful and yes there is despair...it's a STORY and it's wonderful, poignant, and even though this chapter ended on a sad note, I find it to be a hopeful ending because now I see where you're taking us. What an original idea and I'm simply in awe. People just don't get it, and that's a shame that they're flaming you. Rest assured that they're morons who don't understand story construction, plot, depth, emotion, LOVE, yearning and endless possibilities. They are ignorant and they should read something about Spike and Buffy at their High School prom involved in a choreographed dance to some shitty song like "Lady in Red" if they can't handle something that has merit, such as this story. Or maybe they should read "Twilight" and make me gag. Hey, I'm ranting! God, I hate flamers, and I get them too.

This IS MY CUP OF TEA, and I'll take the entire pot and pour myself another mug, thank you. I'm glad you didn't stray from your original plan and I'm sure this was difficult to write out but it was done so well that I hope you're proud of yourself. Well done, and I'll be eagerly anticipating the last two chapters. Good work.

Author's Response: Oh silly flamers. We can't please everyone, can we? Thank you so much for seeing the hope in this chapter, because really, I didn't necessarily want it to be sad at all. For Elizabeth, at least, letting go is almost joyous once she can finally see the bigger picture....LOL at Spuffy prom, and Twilight--ha! Sidenote: A friend forced me to read that series, and I actually wasted two days of my life on that steaming pile of poo! But seriously, thank you so much, Beth, for your absolutely wonderful reviews! Much love : )

Allright. I loved your story from the beginning and was always elated when you updated. I loved the path it took, and I loved the beautyful lovestory of Elizabeth and William. But I always had this feeling, that it won't lead to hugs and puppys. And yes - of course - I hate that they didn't get their happy ever after, you certainly made everyone who read this story long for them to have it. But even though it makes their love seem greater, more special, larger than life. That's just what drama is about. So I can't blame you, and I can imagine, that it wasn't easy to stay true to your idea, because you just had to fall in love with those two characters and the brave Elizabeth. I think it's great that you did it your way, because that makes original and exciting storys!

Thank you, for letting William get to her before the end. For letting them see each other once again. I can't see how William will ever forgive Giles, even if he did what he did out of love for him (funny how true to character this is, will he later on try to kill Spike to protect Buffy...). I really would like to read William meeting his son and to know how the circle closes.
You did amazing with this story! Lots of love! Zaira

Author's Response: Aw thank you so very much for the kind, uplifting words, Zaira! I'm glad the conclusion wasn't a surprise to you--that you felt the overarcing theme building early on. With the two characters, I tried to portray a love that is greater than anything, even death, and I'm so happy that you understood that message...Thanks for mentioning the parallel of Giles's behavior to his actions in season 7--that's just what I was trying to create here...More of William's story will be revealed before the end : ) Love and hugs right back atcha!

OMG I can't believe you , i asked for a reunion not her death, or did she just blackout , i hope so. So cliffie Queen, thanks for answering my last review and letting me know Giles is going to get reamed, he deserves it in a lot of way's he's more evil than his brother, and i hope Will stays angry at him for not telling him about Elizabeth being pregnant , he has so much to answer for . UPDATE SOON, because this is gonna drive me crazy!

Author's Response: Haha JO, your reviews crack me up! Hmm well, this chapter is essentially the end for this particular incarnation of Elilzabeth. Yes, Giles has indeed lost a son in WIlliam after what he's done. Update's coming up! Thanks for reviewing!

Poor Elizabeth ... so the trial awaits.
*nods* Drowning would prove my innocence Exactly; because one way or another the woman would have died.
I didn't dare to hope that William would save her but he did.
In the end it didn't save her at all, she died. Hopefully at last her child will survive. At last she didn't die alone.
Such a sad chapter. William doesn't have her knowledge of what has been or what will come. Susan is Faith then.
William won't forgive Giles for what he has done I fear. Because of that Elizabeth is dead now.
~ Only some chapters to go? I hope it won't end the way it is now because that would be a sad end too. And not the way I would want it to end. :(
(I love my happy endings; with WIPs you never know what you'll get)

Author's Response: Witch trials were sooo ridiculous. In my research, I found some actual cases where the victim was formally exonerated due to drowning in the trial. lol...In some ways, this was a happy ending for Elizabeth, because seeing William again gave her the peace and strength to let go and accept that she is finished for now...Yep, I did mean to imply that Susan is, at least, part of Faith...The forgiveness issue will definitely be difficult...The ending will be uplifting, I promise! I wouldn't want it to stop here either, because it is a story about hope and second chances, after all.

I hope Elisabeth get some time with Elijah; I fear the worst when the trial starts. They'll try to kill her.
Oh my... what Elisabeth seems to point to it too. She's convinced that she'll die. At last her child and Dawn will be free; I wonder what changed Giles' mind. That he doesn't have to save Elisabeth at all? She saw it, it should come true.

Author's Response: I think Elizabeth is sure of her fate early on--and with these last chapters, I've been trying to build her eventual acceptance and peace with it. As for Giles, I think he came back both out of guilt and to help William, since there was no convincing him out of it after a certan point. Thanks for the revew, Cordy!

I admit I'm a sucker for happy endings, but I also believe you must follow your muse where it takes you. The intense drama that played out over these past few chapters has been wonderful, the detail you put into Elizabeth's situation actually made me tear up at times. *sniff* Can't wait to find out what happens next!

Author's Response: I'm defintely a sucker for those happy endings too, which is why I was, at least a teeny bit, longing to do it here. But it just didn't feel right to go in that direction. I'm so happy that you were moved by Elizabeth's story. Thank you for all of your reviews, MidnightGirl, and for sticking with this thing from the beginning! : )

What an amazing story!
Thank you for the images that broke my heart a dozen times. And thank you for the tears. I hate that they couldn't be together in this time but at least they have another chance.
Can't wait to see how you tie it all together.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely words, Shadowsbabe, and for understanding the message behind the tears : ) They definitely have another chance. Death is small in the grander scheme.

I understand, I don't say I like it but I understand. It was a very good chapter but I always hate sad endings. You did it amazingly well though and thank you for writing this story.

Author's Response: Thank you for understanding and I do appreciate your honesty. What I was trying to communicate here is that ultimately, death is a release for Elizabeth as it will become for Buffy. This isn't the ending though--merely the closing of a chapter in the greater arc of their love story. Thank you so much for reviewing, Nicka!

Wow- I just started reading this yesterday and I couldn't wait to get through all 24 chapters! The story is so original; I'm just loving the plot thus far. Also, I wanted to give you credit for how well-written the story is. Your grammar and spelling are superb, the editing is crisp, and your dialogue blends seamlessly into the text. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so happy that you're enjoying the plot and that you were able to get through it so quickly! And thank you for the comment about the editing--I've tried to be a stickler about grammar and such. Really appreciate the review! : )

Fabulously intense chapter! I'm so going to reread that to try to make sense of the... intensity! Haha. :) I say it again, this fic is fabulous. Thank you EVER so much for not naming the child William, by the way-- it's a cliche in any Spuffy pregnancy stories to name the son after Spike, especially if he's absent during the pregnancy/birth. Bleh. Sweet sometimes, nauseating at others. Much love, Annie! You truly deserve the best new author nom. :) After this one you have to get more of your fabulously (there's that word again!) imaginative stories out! I'd love to read more of your writing. So.. update soon!

Author's Response: Ha it was a bit heavy on the intensity there. My next fic wil be something modern and comedic!...maybe. lolo you're welcome on the "William"--that name is just overused in general...*see X-Files. Thank you so much for the kind words, Devin! And I appreciate the usage of "fabulously" .

Oh that's bad. Didn't expect that from Giles now. He knows very well that Elizabeth is pregnant and yet he refuses to help. What a coward. Even if he meant well it smells like betrayal/treason.
I hope the seers are wrong, underestimating the will of William and Elizabeth to be together. Seems as if they will at some point but without the baby?
*phew* I feared Elizabeth would be dying during the birth. Relieved to know she did make it.
But it means that the trial will start now.....
Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: Giles is defintely acting selfishly in his decision to "protect" William. I meant it as sort of a juxtaposition to his betrayal in LMPTM...The trial is indeed imminent. Thank you so much for the review, Cordy! : )

I knew it ,that friggin Giles, how evil to do that to them, the all powerful coven said so,so of course it's so. I hope they both spit in his face, i don't care what his reasons were. I hope you know i'm gonna be angry now for at least a few hours, spare me further pain and update ( with a reunion ? mebbe? ) soon.
