good for spike..... buffy broke up with him and she always wants to talk when she wants to, bury the hatchet when she wants to, and break up when it suits her. Any high moral attorney as buffy says she is would have know that the defense should have adequate time to prepare for Angel/us and would have have suggested the defense receive that time. She felt she had an ace in the hole, wanted to win, and did not care if she sprung a last minute witness on spike to do it. Except when it refers to her or her friends, Buffy has never understood how people get sucked into the black side/gray side of things. It was one of the things I always disliked about the scoobies.

Having not read the updates to the last chapter, I'll say it came out of nowhere. She still can call him evil even though she knows he hates it. She watched him break down because of what he has to do... Not her biggest fan right now...

I will honestly say I think I am the only one who saw the break up coming from the Halloween chapter without the new hints but I thought that it was going to be prolonged a little more. Spuffywise I don't like where the story was heading because this turn was too abrupt (my opinion but your story, no offense).

I knew from the beginning that Buffy was going to break up with him. I think she's totally on a high-horse and needs to get kicked down several notches and I'm not talking about self-loathing. I'm talking about Spike making her work for it when she wants in back. I also sort of want Spike to kick her ass in court. Have since I started the fic. Actually, I was shocked with their break up. I was sure it was going to be after the court case if Spike won. But I think this is better. This'll put more pressure and tension in the courtroom! I really hope Spike kicks her ass!

Great job on the fic. I'm really enjoying it!

And despite everything I do enjoy your Buffy, I think she's true to the characterization...but let's all admit it, Buffy needed her ass handed to her on the show, too.

Author's Response: This is true that Buffy lets her emotions and uncertainties rule her mind. I did have hints throughout the story about her doubts with their relationship since the beginning. I did add a few sentences in All Hallows Eve.....hopefully this will bring it together
