Started reading this story and it compelled me to keep reading to this chapter. Very insightful and touching with all the changes and challenges that Spike has to face. Buffy's character is confident and it compliments Spike stage in life where he has to deal with his loss. Look forward to more.
Author's Response: Delighted that you found the story and it kept you reading on. Thank you very much for the lovely comments.

Spike has definitely has had his ups and downs in the this chapter. I would probably have reacted just like him after that incident in the comic book store, but it was great that instead of completely shutting down, he's going to make an effort to take his life back. :-)
Author's Response: You're not wrong about the rollercoaster of emotions Spike had in this chapter. For the first time unprompted, he is trying to improve his lifestyle.

I'm glad that Spike is trying to be more independent, but in saying this, I think Buffy was slightly thoughtless when she just left him in her apartment without showing him around more thoroughly. Enjoyed the update.
Author's Response: Buffy was a bit thoughtless, but in a way it's good as it shows she doesn't pity him and think he's useless. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it.

great chapter..have you got experience with aquiring a disability because you are handling this so well.....
loved it
Author's Response: Thank you very much. Delighted to see that you're reading. I haven't really any experience though I was friends years ago with a guy who ended up in a wheelchair and so knew from him what frustrated him the most etc (used that in A Loss of Pride) I'm just putting myself in the situation and thinking what would affect me, and pleased that it is ringing true.

Sadly (or gladly?) Spike noticed that he can't do the simplest things alone. It's good that he'll get training now, it will help him to be independent. As long as he doesn't get back into his shell.... the customer at the shop did really spook him.
Author's Response: He does need help to realise that he isn't quite as useless as he thinks he is.

Thanks for sharing! I really like how well you've balanced Spike being frustrated with his condition, with him making steps towards learning to live with it. It's the right amount of push and pull. I'm really enjoying this story :) .
Author's Response: Thank you very much for letting me know you're enjoying the story. I appreciate it.

Giles can take care of Dru, and I think Buffy will be somewhat okay with it. Just not happy about spending time away from him.
Author's Response: You're right on all counts! :D

Poor Spike, but better late than never with trying to adapt. Buffy will likely be proud and Dru won't even know what to do with herself. I imagine she'll handle that better than finding out that he's having girls over. :) Glad to see him progressing. His strife is so well captured. Update soon!
Author's Response: Yes, he has to try to take some control over his own life now. You're not wrong about Dru coping more with him going away than with knowing he has a girlfriend! :D Thank you for saying I've done a good job.
