So sorry to hear about your mom. My husband died at age 34 and I remember about 6 weeks after his funeral standing in the men's department of a local retail store looking at a sweater I thought he would like. I was headed to the cash register before I realized he'd never be able to wear it.

It always helps to have a person who is willing to listen to the things you miss about your loved one.

Author's Response: I'm sorry for your loss as well. My father died at age forty-nine, which is young as well. My mother missed him terribly, but she lived her life to the fullest for the next thirty-four years. I don't know what it's like to lose a spouse, but I catch myself thinking it's her calling or going to the phone to call her. You're right about not truly realizing it for a while. I'm grateful to have friends and family for support. Thank you for taking the time to comment. There's a new chapter up now, and it's much more light-hearted.

My condolences for your loss, hon. *hugs*

Regarding the story: I'm sure Anne hoped for the way her plan turned out and she would be happy to know she was successful.
Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I appreciate your condolences. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, and more is up now.

Buffy and Spike have a lot of coping left to do. Such a very genuine take on loss. Update soon.

Author's Response: Yes, they do, and I plan to keep it coming in further chapters. Loss isn't somethng you move past after the funeral. Mine didn't fully register until a couple of weeks ago, and my mother's been gone a month and six days. You're in shock for quite a long time after such a loss, that it doesn't fully register. You know it intellectually, but your heart doesn't want to accept it.

Thank you, sweetie. Not only for the update, but for sharing this personal information with your readers. I know it took a lot. You're an amazing person. Love ya lots!

Author's Response: Writing this chapter was a very cathartic experience. I only wish I could have written more. I'll continue to mention Anne and the grieving process in later chapters, as I feel that a loss such as this is not something that one just puts away. I don't just think of my mother everyday. I think of her many times throughout the day, Thanks for your kindness and your friendship, both mean the world to me. Love you too!

The thing with the coffee cup just about broke my heart. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: I'm writing it now. The coffee cup exists. I just can't bear to look at it, much less pick it up an smash it.
