A bit sad, but they really aren't going to have a perfect ending in canon, are they? It's nice to dream, but, really?? You'd said somewhere that nobody liked this one, I love that they get to be domestic, even if it is one day. More than some get, and it fits right in with them. And they bash Angel. Pretty well rounded, all around. :) Thanks for sharing.

Loved this story. The Angel thing was fascinating and hot. And this line was absolutely poetic: "If I exist to see the end of things, I’ll be sitting on this burnt out ember of a planet, watching the stars blink out with the memory of your taste on my lips. When the universe shudders and coughs to a halt the last word it hears will be your name, your ridiculous, fucking name, Buffy Summers.”

The ending was not that sad it felt a bit hopeful, but he should abandon the idea of the Suvolte eggs.

Author's Response: I was going for a bit of irony there. I wrote the story with the intention that it wouldn't interfere with the timeline of the original series in any way. Also that part about the sun and the cloud-the sun was lost to Spike when he became a vampire. Thank you for your comment and sticking with the story!

I love the idea that Spike was holding the demon eggs to raise money to give to Buffy and Dawn. It makes sense. That's what I'd always thought. Too bad Buffy never knew that.

Author's Response: Thank you! Even if she did know, I don't think it would have made a difference; if anything it would have made her feel worse that he was causing genocide on her behalf. I think he would've known that and wouldn't have told her. There's that really amazing scene in Double Meat Palace when he comes in and tries to talk her out of working there. That was such a real moment for me, as a viewer, and was a huge inspiration for this story. Thanks so much for the kind words about my writing! It means the world to me.

Don't apologize for the sad ending, I think it was appropriate for the tone of the story and the tone of season 6. I liked that your ending allowed the story to wind its way back into canon...heartbreaking, since I know what is to come, but also a beautiful scene that suggested a possible different outcome for our favorite couple if something, just something, had been different or changed. I'm going to stop rambling now, but I just like to say that your story was wonderful and I hope to read more from you soon :)
