Ugh - I think this is the first time I've ever hated Wes. Until your next post my brain has written that just as Wes aims the gun, a red neck vamp that Spike and Buffy missed sneaks up on him and grabs him. In the scuffle, Wes shoots the gun, which completely misses Buffy. Th sound attracts their attention and they come across Wes and the vamp as the vamp is finishing him off.

But how would Spike and Buffy react to this discovery? That scenario isn't much easier for my brain to take either . . . sigh. I guess I'll just have to hold on until your next post.

Author's Response: The next chapter will be from Wes' perspective and you'll get his history and motivations. The weapon he's holding is a small caliber hand gun, not good for distances. He has no intention of shooting Buffy from his hidden stance. He's under orders not to kill Spike or Tara, so he's just observing now, waiting to get Buffy on her own. I will tell you that I have made a solemn promise to never, ever kill Tara. She's just too wonderful a character and I adore Amber Benson's portrayal of her. Also, not so into killing off the gay characters for no reason. Hope that doesn't leave you on tenterhooks too much.

Author's Response: Also, I wanted to make Wes the ultimate villain of the piece because he's always freaked me out on the show. I mean he stabbed Gunn and everybody was just cool with it. He shot a guy in the leg for asking a question. He kept a girl prisoner in his closet while he banged some other girl who was equally disgusting. Not to mention weird, rapey Wes when that demon possessed him. The character is hard core and scary and I wanted to use that.

This is like Angel season 4 Wesley, I love it! Great chapter, I'm eagerly anticipating/scared about what's going to happen next!

Yikes! Biting my nails again over here. That trio is such a great dynamic to see together. Too bad they didn't have a live Giles to trust. Wesley could have been that person but I have a feeling we haven't seen all his true motives.

Thanks for the update. I loved it, and I'm happy to see them settled somewhere. I do hope they go through with the ritual. I have firend who teases me, because my head is full of ridiculous movie trivia. That reference slipped right past me.

Love the symbolic part in the tattoo ritual that would bind them together as a familly. It would be practical as much as great for the emotional part - Buffy would feel even more connected to them both. Hopefully they've really gone off the radar from the Council and Wesley..

Thanks for the update. I'm curious to know how Tara knew about Giles' diary. I can't wait to find out, if you share that. I'm glad they're getting away from the seriously creepy Wesley. I don't think I've ever read a disturbing Wesley. Well done!

Author's Response: I have been updating like mad, so you may have missed the last chapter. Tara has been using meditation not only to keep her feelings from being dominated by her brother's, but she's also using it to reach out to the spirit world. Giles' ghost told her where to find it. If you did read the previous chapter, maybe that wasn't clear, it was a big info dump. I'd love to hear what was unclear and what I need to explain better. Thanks!

So Wes is smarmy, and a bit of a traitor. Can't wait to see the proof. And I love the anecdote with the necklace with Giles, her substitute father and the ways that she holds onto her loved ones with all her rings. A lovely thought.

I totally remembered the thing about the rings after you mentioned it. I guess that's what happens when I read so many different stories...Anyway, I really loved this chapter! A lot of revealing information. I also loved the Send in the Clowns bit. :)
