Spike should know better than to mention his poems! Due to the UST and banter throughout the last few chapters, I've almost forgotten about the visions that Buffy gets into William's past. It made my heart break a little, to hear that he had never been anyone's boyfriend. But I'd have to agree with Buffy that he's definitely more than a boyfriend. Enjoyed! =)

And yes, she gets the flashes of his life... she learned to block it out but she slipped... the situation of staring up at the stars was too strong a catalyst. Wow, I'm really in love with this story. It's a perfect AU - you did such a great job keeping Buffy and Spike (and Anya) in character even though they are really completely different people. I dislike AU stories that merely seem like someone wanted to post an original story and wanted people to actually read it. You actually used the Buffyverse and gave it a few very, very interesting twists.

I love Buffy and Spike's connection, be it their history you unveiled bit by bit or the strange friendship/lovestory that's still developing. It's great to see a human version of Spike who's a bitter and lonely vampire hunter with a sweet tooth as well as a physically and mentally scarred outcast Buffy with a knack for martial arts and drawing.

Also, I found it really awesome that you made Anya Buffy's best friend - even though I'm very sad she had to die - you gave the two of them a nice story with realistic progress and who can resist the amazingness that is Anya?

I'm still very curious about why Buffy had dreams about Spike's past - probably my favorite part of this story. I'm looking forward to updates! :)

Author's Response: You just gave me the biggest happy fuzzies. :) You know, that's the toughest thing about writing AUs - to keep the characters recognisable even though they have different backgrounds. I always strive to do it while creating a whole new universe for them, so I love knowing you enjoy this story!

I have a lot of fun writing them. As you probably noticed, I'm a fan of slow build up. It's awesome that you guys seem to like it as well. :) So awesome you like this version of them!! Thank you for telling me.

Believe me, I'm sad about Anya too, which may sound silly since I'm the one who actually killed her off, but... I do miss her. It was necessary for the story though.

They have an edge up, but not an answer. He doesn't want to lose her in the battle, and she doesn't want to lose him not having his back. The perfect team and an impossible situation. Something will have to give and I can't help but think it may be Spike. :) Those two are so desperately trying to to fall in love and it seems that they missed the landing while trying so hard not to fall! Can't wait for that confession. And poor Anya. Though she kinda knew, knowing for sure is always the worst. Amazing story. Promise I'm in for the long haul. Update soon!

Author's Response: They're getting close though. Shouldn't be much longer before they figure it out. Still quite a dilemma they're facing now, and you said it perfectly. Someone's got to give in. Guess we'll see who's more stubborn... Buffy or Spike. ;) Silly them, thinking they can avoid the inevitable. That landing passed them some time ago. At least they have each other, and Buffy has Spike's support now that she needs it. Even having suspected Anya's death, it still came as a shock. I'm very happy to hear you're still enjoying.
