Love that yet again Buffy stood up to Xander - and that it was Spike at the graveside with Buffy and she didn't dismiss him and cosy up with Angel instead. Love the idea of her love being like a disco ball! LOL

Oh yes, there is definate some worry to be had about Bess. I'm so glad readers have embraced her and feel her confusion, frustration, and pain.She's a survivor, but is really feeling lost in the new environment. Bring on the angst... :)

Really fun chapter. Loved the Dru cameo, even if she was wreaking relatively brief havoc. Kinda nice not to suffer for like 20 chapters for a change. :) And I loved the epitaphs. -- "I told you I was sick!" Love that she ruminates over the fact that Spike probably knows them too. And a tiny little slayer daydream. Cut from the same cloth. Seems that his patience is paying off. Awesome!
BTW... There is a family story, that my grandma (who was never really sick a day in her life) kept saying of her ill neighbor "He would be fine if he would just get up and do stuff!" -- and of course he died the next week. Sounds like his epitaph. :) BBTW... grandma just passed on this past August at 100 and three quarters. Can't say that she didn't have a point, too. :)
Author's Response: HI BR! Yeah, it was a short and sweet visit from Dru. My muse loves to write her, and I could've dragged that way out long and angstily, but my muse just really wanted to get to the Spike saving and Buffy starting to see that there's something different about him. Glad you approved!
I love your grandma! That's just the most awesome attitude - and a great epitaph! :) My grandfather was a curmudgeon who lived with us when I was pretty young. Looking back, I know now, I'm sure he had Alzheimers, but we didn't even know what that was then . He was always walking somewhere (we lived in a rural / suburban area) - always on the go - neighbors would bring him home. Anyway, for whatever reason, he went back to live with other relatives and my dad said he probably wouldn't live very long after that 'cos they didn't let him wander around - and my dad was right. Grandpa stopped moving and that was the end... So I do think your Grandma had a wonderful point!

Author's Response: Hi Melly! Xander hating/mistreating Spike and getting shut-down by Buffy is one of my favorite things to write. Right up there with dusting Angel or killing Riley. .. LOL! The others are reacting pretty well, I think, because of what Spike did to save Dawn and help Buffy with the Dru threat. Even in canon, when they caught Buffybot with Spike, Willow was fairly understanding, so this can only be better now. I won't make you wait as long for the next chapter, I promise. Loved the scene with Dru.The drama wasn't in the fight, so I didn't think it was cut too short. The drama was in Spike's heroic action to save Dawn, and Buffy's epiphany.
I'm now up to Ch12 in 'Everything I own'. Sorry I'm not reviewing everything as I read, but I've downloaded the complete stories to read all in one go on my kindle. You'll probably get an essay length review when I finally catch up...

I was worried there wasn't enough to make it coherent, but had to assume we *all* know canon well enough to make it work. Spike is a busy guy ... trying to woo the Slayer and prove that he's more than a monster and show her what she is and keep himself from killing Ben in front of her. And now dear Dru ... oh my! I think it will be safe to assume that, despite my muse's penchant for torturing Spike's heart, a meaningless (to Buffy) using of Spike's hot ,tight little body is not where I'm going. I’m ready for the wild ride because I learned a long time ago to fasten my seatbelt when I read one of your stories (and keep a box of tissues within reach)! It was very heart wrenching to read Spike’s demise after he managed to get through to his past self but of course very happy that he managed to do so. Author's Response: Hi All4Spike!!! I miss you!! In truth, I do mean Season 5, not 6. If you want to see what happened to Spike, Vamp!Riley, Xander, Dawn, and Tara in the Apocalyptic world, you will have to read the Miles To Go story in the Unexpected Verse. The next chapter will jump forward 10 years to a point where Spike goes back in time to a place BEFORE the fight with Glory and attempts to change the outcome. There will be a brief summary of events of the last ten years in war-torn Sunnydale, but it doesn't do the angst justice. :) I think you'll enjoy seeing how he changes things just as well, though. There will be angst ... and possibly smut and canon Buffy, and Spike with a little more insight into how to deal with her. You'll see lots of things that will sound familiar, I'm sure, since it's just my muse's style. I hope you can get back to Unexpected one day - I do miss you! I hope you'll enjoy this just as much, though. Glad you stopped in!
