A lovely start indeed. Well, part of the posse knows, and seems pro-Buffy being happy even if they don't understand. Now she just has to get all honest with Spike before he drinks himself into a permanent stupor. :) And letting Riley down, so glad that didn't fester. Was afraid for a split second that she might have been regressing and we'd be stuck with soldier boy again. Hope Spike isn't down too deep. But I do see big shining hope, and that brings an amazing start to the weekend. Thanks for sharing, and update soon!
Author's Response: Yup, I like to think Willow would have been a good friend if Buffy had told her on the show. Weirded out, but supportive. And Riley's gone! Omfg yes yes yes! In spuffy heaven right now. I always loved how free of judgements tara was, I think her kind nature and support were integral for season buffy and her spike relationship and you really captured that here. I also loved the fact that you had buffy tell willow too... I think this was a really realistic scene in that, yes, willow was wigged but was still a supportive friend. I have this idea in my head that if only she had been honest to spike in the show that her friends woukd have been the same- wigged but eventually supportive. Loved it and so can't wait for more! Loving Loving the frequency of updates too, very impressive!
Author's Response: Yaaay, LOVE to hear that! :D I loved how non-judgy Tara was in S6 when she found out about Buffy and Spike, so I wanted to have a little bit of that in this story as well. :) Btw, it's great to hear you found the scene with Willow realistic, because that's the one I had the most trouble with. Bless you. I don't think Buffy's friends would have shunned her if she'd told them.

And clearly, mother always knows best, even if she's now quite sure what she knows. Sees so simply the way their actions together have changed. From an explosion on the verge of going off to the fine tuned ballet that they are now. And the fact that Buffy would rather be uncomfortable with Spike than in her nice soft bed--well, I've never met a guy that made me prefer slumming it over my pillow top! Wonder what will happen when the holiday is over and Spike leaves. Will Spike leave? I imagine his vampire constitution could enable him to hide quite successfully in the Summers basement for quite some time. Have decidedly less faith in Buffy pulling that off. And it is nice to see that things are back to normal in the otherverse. Gotta wonder what Emma remembers. Mite is slightly evil, and all. :) Love them struggling in their own world. Update soon!

Me neither! Sorry, men of the world, I still prefer my comfy bed to your hairy asses. ;) But hey, Spike's not that hairy and he doesn't sweat or generate heat (I hate getting overheated at night), so he sounds like the perfect cuddle buddy. Buffy agrees!
Nah, I imagine he'd get caught eventually and that would be just awkward. lol

Just want to say that I recently discovered this story and I am really enjoying it! I hope we find out more about what their daughter knew, if everything. I don't generally prefer all-human plots, but your use of the book from the alternative universe was a clever way to get the best of both worlds!

Author's Response: Couldn't have said it better myself. :) They're in too deep, and quitting each other definitely won't be as easy as they'd thought it would be. Especially not when they're realising just how good they can be together. I keep thinking some angst is coming regarding her friends or something but I have to say I am very happy to see that Buffy didn't turn her feeling off the second they returned home. What a great chapter. It is really interesting how blind Willow is. I am sure that Tara noticed the change in their relationship. I am glad that Buffy did not behave as she would have on the show. It was very sweet realizing the things they missed at the cabin as well as little Emma. I anxiously await your next chapter.

Willow isn't really as blind, she's just not as perceptive as Tara is, which is partly because she doesn't have Tara's outsider perspective. Don't forget that the last time she spoke to our Buffy, Buffy was complaining about Spike and kind of wishing she could stake him. Willow doesn't know what went down between them, so it's really not her fault that she doesn't quite realise that things have changed. :) SO awesome that you found that bit sweet. I'm writing the next chapter right now, so hopefully, it'll be done by Friday, as always. :D
