Great start. Dawn was quite prepared to jump when the dimensions opened so this sacrifice is just as believable - and Buffy did say she'd quit if Dawn died. I feel sorry for Tara though...

Author's Response: Hi All4Spike! My muse really wanted to see what happened to the characters if Dawn died. I couldn't find many stories like that. I found a couple, one where she jumped and one where Giles killed her, but didn't like either of those scenarios ... thus the Gregor-cide. The one time I really liked Dawn was when she was in the cave hiding with Spike and she felt badly for getting everyone hurt, and contended that she was evil, so I sort of funneled that mind-set for her. Glad it felt true to character. I felt bad for Tara too - I love Tara, but couldn't justify her getting her mind back just because Glory faded or whatever, and I didn't think Willow would be ready or able to perform her spell at that point, so I felt like I didn't have any choice but to leave her in that state. This story has been completely character driven - I have just sort of given it over to their voices and let them drive, so sometimes it goes quickly and other times it lingers, but hopefully it'll be an interesting ride. I've enjoyed writing it, just letting mostly Buffy and Spike take the wheel. Hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for reading and stopping in! Always love hearing from you!
