I was hoping to read Spike's meeting with Michael, but I'm still not disappointed by this chapter. Good introduction to Angel. I'm glad you will be putting in the angst and rebuilding their relaionship. I think it would be too quick, easy, and hollow if they were all of a sudden together and happy. It will make it more worthwhile :-)

Ashlee, you are so generous with your time and talent, giving us two chapters nearly daily! I can't say enough how much I love this story. You have definitely succeeded in infusing a true sense of reality in this story. The human emotions just jump off the page. I adore how you have gradually fleshed out the consequences of everyone's actions, and not tried to wrap things up in a nice tidy bow as some authors might. It takes time to rebuild relationships, and I'm impressed with the time and care you are taking to do so. Great chapter again! Spike certainly has changed for the better in some ways. Both Buffy and Spike obviously grew while they were apart. Now we just have to see if they can learn to grow together.

I have to disagree with DanAnn. Yes, Spike made some mistakes, but he hasn't been able to see his son because she took him away. That doesn't make him a bad father because we haven't seen how he interacts with the baby. As for Buffy and Angel (good job on the Angel characterization by the way, these three seem to be a lot like their TV counterparts) I don't see anything that should be impressive enough for him to stay in Buffy's life. He gets jealous because her baby has a father- shouldn't he have come to terms with that? I loved this chapter and I can't wait for the Spuffyness- Spike might have made some mistakes, but they are nothing compared to what he did in the series, and Buffy was able to forgive him then. Please update soon!

I hope Buffy stays with Angel. Spike did not let Buffy know that he loved her before graduation. He ignored herafter she told him she was pregnant. He chose his job over Buffy and being responsible for a child. I'd leave himand take his baby away, too. He obviously is not mature enough to be a father. I'm glad Buffy found Angel and hope that Spike will at least visit them once in a while - but at this point I can't see Spike and Buffy together.

First off, I just wanted to tell you thank you for the amazing updates! I don't get to read often, so by the time I read, I have plenty of chappies of keep my occupied. As for this being your favorite story, I can certainly see why. As always, your writing is great, but this story has such depth and flow to it. You should really be proud of yourself. Hey, I may be a little mad at Buffy, but I'm so not on Spike's side either. I don't really like to choose sides and I always think Spike is an ass basically. I believed that on the show and well I believe that when I read some of these stories. Doesn't mean I don't like him though...lol. Yeah, makes a lot of sense. Well, I already know I don't really like Angel at the moment. I just want Spike to at least see his son and hopefully would decide that he wants to be a part of his life. I just know what it's like having a father that's not around and I think a father should always be a part of his child's life no matter what. That could be why I feel the way I do about this story. So, nothing against you or anything. I think you're a really great author and I have read some of your other work before. Well, like I said before I hope that everything will work out.

Awesome. Good chapter. And I still maintain my opinion that Buffy is being very grown-up bout this. So far. I see some testosterone being slung about. (hmmmm, taken literally, that is very gross). Hope there are fisticuffs later. :)

I don't understand why some feel that Buffy is the bad guy in this. I don't think she did a thing wrong. In my view, there is a father who is pretty much impassive about this whole situation, making no immense effort to find the woman he claims to love or the child he doesn't seem to be enthusiastic about. I don't blame Buffy in the least for leaving, considering conversations had or priorities stated. It is obvious to me that Spike was/is confused, and to me that is fine. He made his choice, his job and not going to jail, which is understandable. But Buffy turned 18 somewhere in there (Springtime) before graduation. If anything, Spike should have gone after her with great fervor upon her graduation, but he did not (what was keeping him from persuing her as she left the graduation ceremony?). Later, he made a half-assed attempt to see her and gave up upon Joyce's telling him Buffy had left. Someone who truly wanted Buffy and his child would have stopped at nothing. Hello internet. Hello, private eye. Hello, badger Buffy's mother and friends to death. This may not have proven fruitful for Spike, but at least it may have gotten back to Buffy that Spike was somewhat...interested. Instead, I see a wimpy Spike and a Buffy who would like a man to fight for her, to exhibit that he truly desires her. All this to once again say, I have no problem (currently) with Buffy's choices and actions. I don't read her as bitchy in this story. In fact, I read her as very mature, considering she is agreeable with letting Spike see his son. Just my POV. I like the story a lot.

I thought Spike was going to be the jerk in this story (mostly because of your author's note about him not being a stand-up guy for awhile) That turned out to be a little misleading as Buffy is really behaving much worse than him. I don't know if I can stand to read it anymore. Good luck making either of them come out as likeable.
