I've really been enjoying this fic, and though it won't change my enjoyment, i do have to ask: Was this originally a Spike/Faith story? The dialogue, the occasional mix-ups in there with the names Buffy and Faith... Just getting that vibe. There's nothing wrong with that, but i am curious.

Author's Response: Nope, I'm writing it as I go along but in essence I am trying to see how they would have turned out if they had lived each others, or my idea of each others lives. Faith always said that Buffy's life should have been hers and Buffy was always unhappy with hers so I pulled them into a world where they both got their wish Faith is living Buffy's life that we saw on the show and Buffy is having my version of Faith's unpleasant life. But wherever you take Faith and Buffy they are still going to be themselves deep down. That hasn't exactly shown itself really clearly yet, but the fact that Buffy is helping out innocent people and Faith's iniatial jealousy of her gives you a hint that they are stil have a lot of the characters traits we saw on the show. Faith in later chapters will tap into her darker nature and Buffy will learn about the lighter aspects of hers. BUT even my mind gets confused channeling their essence into each other and sometimes even I forget that I am writing Faith's words but Buffy is the one saying them or vice versa. Spike/Faith is not one of my prefered BTVS parings, because the Faith and Spike shown on the show, in my opinion would kill each other within a week. I always like Riley for her thinking that he was the perfect balance for her darkness. So your now wondering why I put a Faith like Buffy with Spike...well since Faith's past was pretty much a mystery for all we know she has always been the girl who signed on with the mayor and the rest, showing up at the church to fight in B's body and helping out in the finale was a byproduct of her interaction with Buffy and friends.

That was unexpected, but it flows perfectly with the story. This puts a whole new twist on everything. I hope Angel doesn't become an ass over this.

So close and yet so far. Great chapter- very emotional ending.

I like their gambling- definitely high risks.
