Chapter Two.

It was the night of All Hallows Eve, and Willow was getting ready at the Summers residence. Buffy had done her make up the way that she had said, making her look like an evil witch, with a dark spot on her cheek. Buffy called it a mole, but she didn’t see the resemblance. It was almost witching hour and Buffy was still in the bathroom getting her costume on. Willow couldn’t help the little smile that crept up. Even though she knew that something might go wrong tonight, there was still a feeling of excitement over the whole ordeal.

She glanced at the clock. Buffy had been in there for almost a half an hour. What was taking so long? Surely it didn’t take that long to put in the canine teeth and contacts right? Getting up, she knocked on the bathroom door. “Buffy? Are you alright? Do you need any help?”

“No, I’m almost done.” Buffy’s muffled voice said from behind the door. Buffy, couldn’t help but look at herself in the mirror. She had to admit, she looked good. In a weird and twisted way, of course. The teeth were glued to her existing canines, just making them longer and pointer, she would have to be careful not to accidentally poking herself. The contacts were the color yellow that normal vampires had in game face. But in this case, there were no bumpies that went along with the costume.

The rest of her costume was black leather pants, black leather boots, and a black and red sleeveless corset top. She was wearing a bunch of necklaces, bracelets, and rings to give her the more punk rocker look. Her hair was teesed a little to add volume, half pulled back with the exception of her bangs. Her make up was heavy. Black eyeliner, with a smoky eye, and a white powder on her exposing skin to make her look pale. Then she had added some black nail polish and blood-red lipstick.

Sighing, she gave herself the once over before she opened the door. Willow was sitting on her bed in her witches outfit, with the ghost sheet in her hand. Her legs were crossed and she was swinging her leg as she looked around the room. When her friend had seen her, her foot stopped moving and her eyes scanned over her outfit.

Dramatically, Buffy twirled in a circle. “So what do you think?” She asked. “Does it scream ‘vampire’?”

“Wow, Buffy. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that you were really turned. You look great.” Then she frowned. “You kinda remind me of someone. I can’t put my finger on it…” Then relaxation flashed over her face. “Spike! That’s where I’ve seen that look before. You look like Spike!”

Buffy looked sheepishly. “Well, I did get the jewelry look from him.” She wasn’t sure how she felt about looking like Spike. It made her seem like she had looked at him more than just an annoying pain in the ass. Oh, she was slightly excited by the thought of him showing up and getting a gander at her outfit. “What do you think Angel will think? I was afraid that I would be offending him, but doing this.”

Willow waved her hand in dismissal. “This is the only night of the year that you get to dress up other than you’re self. What better way than to dress like your enemy?” She said, using Buffy’s words against her.

“Well…” Buffy began.

Then the doorbell rang. Sighing, Buffy turned and walked down the stairs to get the door. There stood Xander, looking more G.I. Joe than G.I. Joe himself. He was in forest camo pants, and a black wife-beater. He had a dark camo bandana tied around his bicep and fake dog tags handing around his neck.

Buffy’s eyes looked him up and down. “Not bad, Xander. It looks great!” She praised, stepping back so he could come in.

“Holy Gothica, Batman!” He exclaimed as he looked at his friends outfit. “You look like Spike!” He faltered. “In a girl version of him, of course, and so much better. The eyes are weird though.”

“You are the second person to tell me that I look like Spike. I just took the jewelry aspect from him.” Buffy said. “The contacts feel weird in. Total shocker when I saw myself with them.”

“You look… forgive me for being frank, but you look hot!” Xander declared. “I wonder what Captain Peroxide would say when he saw you.”

Buffy couldn’t help but grin. “It would be like a kick in the pants.”

He nodded. “So, where’s Will?”

Before Buffy answered, they heard the creak of the stairs, and they turned to see their friend walking down the stairs in the witch outfit, the ghost costume was no where to be seen. “Where’s the ghost costume?” Buffy asked.

“I decided that if you had to be a vampire, then I’d be a witch… but a good witch. Because you know that witches aren’t all bad. Almost all of them are healers and didn’t want to hurt anyone- for the love of Hecate, somebody stop me.” She said sheepishly.

“Don’t worry Will,” Xander said. “You can be a witch that just likes the color black and green.” He suggested.

Buffy smiled kindly at Willow and laid an understanding hand on her shoulder. “You look wonderful.” She frowned slightly. “You got rid of the mole.”

“It was too much of a stereotype.” The grandfather clock in the living room chimed eight. “Candy time!” she squealed excitedly.

The three friends turned and walked out of the house and out into the night, not knowing what was heading their way.

In the warehouse, Dru was standing in the main room, under the skylight where the moon was shining down on her, swaying to an inaudible song that only she could hear. It was that time. The stranger was getting ready, the stars were telling her. Telling her sweet little nothings about what was to come. Miss Edith lay in her arms, adding to what the stars were telling her, making her dizzy with all the news.

“Dru?” Spike asked. He had just walked out of their bedroom to see her dancing in the moonlight. It seemed to make her glow. The off white of her dress feeding off of the light of the moon, making her look more like the evil angel that she was.

“It’s almost time, my Spike.” She said dreamily, her eyes still closed. “Sunshine will be joining us soon. I can feel it in my bones. The moon is calling to her, but she doesn’t hear. Bad, bad, bad girl. Needs to be punished, needs to bleed.” She had stopped her dancing and looked at Spike.

“Get to her Spike. Get to her before Angel can.”

Spike stepped closer. “It’s done, pet.” He paused. “Now, why don’ you go rest ‘n’ I’ll bring you somethin’ special. Maybe a little kiddie? How about that, pet?”

“I love kiddies.” She said. “Will you bring me a daisy?”

“If you want one, sweets.” He reached out to her and she came to him. “Now, you need to lay down, you’re still weak.” Then he led her to their room before settling her down then leaving. He had a Sunshine to catch.

He smirked as he stepped out into the night and towards the sounds of little kids could be heard trick-or-treating. Soon, he would be treating, and the Slayer would be dead.

“The world that denies thee, thou inhabit.” Said a deep, thrilled voice. The man daps his fingers into the blood on his hands and wipes it on his eye lids. “The peace that ignores thee thou corrupt.” He dabs the blood from his left hand with his right middle finger again and smears a cross onto his forehead.

“Chaos. I remain, as ever, thy faithful, degenerate son.” He grins devilishly as he looks down at the stature head on the short table before him surrounded by candles. The woman’s face was towards him, while the screaming man’s face was facing the opposite wall.

The man sneered as he thought of the glorious chaos he was about to spread throughout the people of this god horrible town. This place was no Homeland, but it was sure about to become Hell on Earth. What he would give to see his old mates face when his dear little Slayer transforms.

Ethan was beyond surprised when she had chosen her costume. He thought for sure that she was going for the 18th century dressed, but obviously the price was too great for her. So when she had chosen the fangs and contacts, he was wondering if that was something that wouldn’t go against his plans. But then he thought about the terror that she would be causing for other people. To her friends and family. A rush ran through him.

Yes, he was pleased. Now for the finally.

Buffy and her friends had hit the town’s dentist, and just like previous years, he had handed out toothbrushes and dental floss. Already, the town’s garbage cans were filled with them. But the night was still young and they had yet to hit the best houses.

When they had hit the street, a rush of wind swept through the town. Buffy thought that it was weird, there hadn’t been a wind when they had first set out, so why was it starting now? She paused as she looked around. No one else seemed to notice.

There was something about this air. Something was being carried in it. Something that she didn’t know. All she knew, was that something big was about to happen.

“Buffy?” Buffy saw her friends giving her quizzical looks as she just stood there. She told them it was nothing and they continued down the sidewalk.

* * * * *

Not far away, Spike had felt the wind as well. He too, thought that there was something off about the wind. It was tinted with something. He took a whiff. Magic. Black magic by the smell of things. Whoever this new person Dru was talking about, they were dabbing into stuff that they didn’t have a clue about. He tool bigger strides as he continued through the town. Grimacing as yet another vampire wannabe rushed passed him.

Back at Ethan’s Halloween shop, he raised his head as he looked at the statue and smiles devilishly. “Showtime.”

Buffy and her gang were passing another house when they heard a scream. They turned towards the sound and saw a midget monster strangling an old lady. “Good, mother of Zues!” Xander exclaimed. “What the-”

“What?” Xander turned and saw a young woman about his age with flaming red hair in what appeared to be a witch’s outfit. He watched, puzzled as she looked around where they were standing.

“Where am I?” she asked. “What day is it?” Willow looked towards the man in front of her.

“I don’t know where we are, miss, but all I know that it is Halloween.” He answered, giving her another look before tightening his grip on his rifle.

“All Hallows Eve?” She screeched in a disbelieving voice. “How could this happen? Nothing’s supposed to happen on this day. No one was supposed to mess with this day!” She was angry. When she found who was responsible of this evil deed, “When I find who did this, I’ll turn him into a toad!”

But Private Harris was not paying attention to the red head. His eyes were fixed on the blond next to her. Her eyes were a different color and near her mouth, he was something gleam white. She was looking around her, half smiling. She stopped her looking around and sniffled the air. Her gaze turned towards him with a predatory gleam.

An inhuman growl came from her throat.

He raised his gun quickly and pointed it at her. He grabbed the red head’s hand and pulled her behind him. “What are you.” He asked, looking her up and down. She dressed normal looking for a gothic person, but she was no way human.

She growled again. “I’m something that goes bump in the night. I’m something that eats humans like you every night for my meal.” She took another step towards him. He smelled wonderful to her. She could see the blood pumping under the skin of his neck. It called to her, beckoned her to come and quench her thirst.

“She’s a vampire!” Willow said in his ear. “You can’t kill them with lead. You need a wooden stake or holy water.”

“I don’t actually carry any of those things, woman.” Xander said, keeping his eye on the demon, taking a step back with every step she took towards them. “Got any other ideas?”

“Guys?” the three of them turned to see a tall, dark, man with a large forehead come towards them. “What’s going on? It’s chaos out here, why aren’t you three doing anything?”

“Who are you?” All three asked.

Angel looked between all of them. “I’m Angel, a friend.” He stopped when he saw Buffy. “Buffy? What happened?”

“You’re a vampire as well, why aren’t you killing them?” She asked. What was up with this guy? Shouldn’t he be eating first, acting friendly towards humans never?

“As well? What’s going on Buffy?” He took a step towards her, but she stepped back and growled at him in warning. It brought out a response from his demon. “Watch it, young one.” He warned. “You do now want to kill these two. They are you’re friends as well.”

“They are humans, except the witch. She reeks of magic. I would never be friends with humans.” She frowned at him. Why was one of her own, defending the humans? Was he some human-hugger or something? Pro-life for humans? He was a monster for the devils sake. Why wasn’t he relishing in the carnage and bathing in the blood of the innocent? “You are a shame to your own kind.” With that, she turned and ran with inhuman speed to find her meal.

Angel was about to go after her when Willow spoke out to him. “You have a soul, how is that?”

“Cursed.” He said sharply, his eyes on where Buffy had disappeared.

“Fascinating. I wonder if the Coven has thought of that.” She pondered for a minute before continuing. “Since you obviously have some kind of clue what’s going on, do you mind filling us in?”

Angel looked at them, then around at the demons slash humans that were running around, causing havoc. “Not here, it’s not safe. This way.” He turned and made his way in the opposite direction of where he had came from. He heard two sets of foot prints following him closely.

“Do you have any idea why someone would act on the night that is supposed to be sacred?” Willow asked him.

“I don’t know. That’s what I came to ask you three about.”

“Why would you come to us? We don’t even know each other.” Soldier Xander said.

“Yes you do. You three are the best of friends and you guys are like the defenders of this town from the demons.” Angel tried to explain. “We’ll have to call Giles and have him check it out. In the mean time we go to Buffy’s house, grab some weapons and then go out in search of her.”

“Why are we going after the thing that was going to eat us?” Willow asked.

“Because she was never a vampire. She was the fighter for good before someone cast a spell on almost everyone.”

“A spell? Maybe I can be of help then.”

Angel stopped and turned to face her, causing her to almost run into him. “You know how to stop this?” If there was a way for this witch Willow to stop this madness, and get Buffy back to her normal self, then he would do anything.

“If there’s any way to get vampire Buffy, back into human Buffy, then I’m all for it.” Angel then turned and started down the sidewalk at a faster pace. Xander and Willow looked at each other, before they practically sprinted after him.

None of them seemed to notice that not ten feet away, behind a tree, Spike had listened in on their conversation. He was especially interested in the fact that Buffy was a vampire now.
