I got into Buffy post mortem, way post mortem actually, when the WB closed its doors in September of 2006. The Buffy and Angel pilots aired in succession, and from that moment I was hooked like a fish. I think I watched fifteen episodes of Buffy a day for a little while. I'm the type of person that considers the show a great modern achievement, but delving into that would get lengthy. Oh, about me? I'm 17, male, attending UC Davis in the fall, love Buffy, watching sunsets, rock music, and pictures of Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'm trying to improve my writing by *gasps* writing. My music's rock, which has a cagey way of creeping into my writing. I prefer the demented anti-hero more than the typical hero. And uh... that's basically it.

Another great chapter. I especially like your very observant take on their relationship; that Buffy was "in control," and hopefully she's losing that control now. I think that control is a very important part in the Spuffy relationship, or really any relationship, but especially all of Buffy's relationships. Hopefully you won't make Katie too much of a bitch; I kinda like her. Good stuff, looking forward to more.

Great chapter; nice wedding scenes. As with any story, you should take it to the most extreme place you can, but definitely within reason. Try to stay true to the canon of the show.

I liked it, although the dream sequences were a bit weird. I'm sure it'll be clarified later for its clairvoyance. I actually kinda like that someone's treating Spike like a man; he was pretty much always crapped on in the show, and it's refreshing. Although, yes, we ALL want Spuffy in the end, and Spike to only think about Buffy, the story has much more conflict when Buffy thinks he's with Katie.
Author's Response: The dreams will play a major part in the story! I promise in the end it will be Spuffy, but until then not so much!

I liked it. It's not really a Spuffy fic, though, more of a "reality" fic. The Spuffy relationship was always very ambiguous on the show, and I think this fic perfectly displays the opposite end of the spectrum, the side of the story we never see on this site. And particularly at this time, in season five, before Spike helped Buffy save Dawn and didn't not tell Glory about the key and didn't almost die for her yet. It was kinda heartbreaking. Looking forward to more from you. Don't let the reviews discourage you.

Great opening. You have my utmost interest; this looks like it will be a very good fic. I can see both of them helping each other out exponentially and finding love as they get to know each other. I very much like the William characterization; I feel that it has room to grow, too, if you want to go that way. The Buffy characterization is also sound because she's not a bad person, just a cheerleader in the wrong (or "right") crowd. Looking forward to more. :D

Love this story, both characters are so full of potential. William can definitely get edgier and tougher and Buffy can be more intelligent and less fake. It looks like they'll start affecting each other; William affecting Buffy with the tutoring and Buffy probably affecting William with her looks and coy flirtatiousness. I love how she kinda tried to use her looks in this chapter to get her way, with the pout and touch. Even though she probably wasn't aware she was having that effect on him (and he on she with his voice), it's just fun to see the high school relationship of self-consciousness and shyness develop. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite novels, and I found it rather peculiar that you included it in the story. I hope you just put it in because it reminded you of Spuffy on the show, or that it was your favorite book or something, and not that the events in the book will be repeated in this fic. Of course, this is a high school fic, so maybe you're just alluding to the social class differences. At any rate, it was a fun read, and I'm looking forward to more.
Author's Response: I like how William didn't let her get away with it, even though he was affected by her. Yes, trying really hard to remember back that far and what it felt like. Insecurity and confusion is what comes to my mind for that period for me.
Don't worry, this won't be an exact Wuthering Heights rewrite done in high school Spuffy (not sure how I'd accomplish that one anyway!). I wandered into using it for Buffy's report because I liked that quote and Buffy needed something to work on. I also liked the description of Cathy's love for Heathcliff, even though technically I suppose it's meant to be a cautionary tale.
I was kinda cursing myself after I did it, because I read it 15 years ago, so I had to go brush up a little. Initially, I liked that, as you said, the social class differences are there and that's very similar to a high school situation. In the book, who you marry can determine/raise/lower your 'worth'. In high school, make friends with the wrong person and you're branded. There may be some parallel things or events that happen along the way. I'm sort of still in the planning stage now, so anything I say now would probably end up not being true!. I will say that it's not going to be a tragic disaster like Cathy and Heathcliff. Just me personally, but I do hate getting hooked on a fic in progress and then everyone gets killed off in the end. (Unless they do it in a really cool way, then I still hate it, but I can appreciate it!) I will admit to cheating sometimes and looking at the last page of suspicious completed fics to prevent this from happening (just to see if there's a happy Buffy and Spike). Only one person has tricked me so far and that was by putting a happy dream sequence at the end even though Spike was dead! I was so bummed...lol. So, consider the last page looked at - there will be a happy ending of some sort. 'Cause I'm a sap. A long-winded sap. Thanks for the review.

Developing nicely. Glad to see we have the conflict finally set in place, of William being "lower class" than Buffy and therefore unworthy. It's kinda obvious they want each other (Buffy is buying him stuff/thinking about him and William is venting his frustration), but with obstacles like peer pressure and social class, we're really in for a show. Also very nice to see you've implemented more characters and made the plot thicker, with an appearance of Buffy's boyfriend Angel, the Scooby gang, Cordy's disdain, and Drusilla. It's really nice to see all these elements starting up, and I can't wait to see where you take it.

I liked it, especially the present scene. I thought that was nice. I'm very interested in Drusilla and Angel, who seem to be working as less menacing antagonists than normal. I can completely see Angel's perspective, and although he's perhaps a little overprotective, this _is_ Buffy we're talking about here. It'll be interesting to see how you demonize him. And Dru as a singer is a nice touch. I can just envision a "things fall apart" scene between Buffy and Spike where afterwards they both go to their prospective lovers and do something they'll regret. Good chapter.

I don't want either of them to be purely "evil", that would be boring, though Angel has a temper... I can see where he's coming from here too, I mean, that's not an unreasonable request really.
I like Dru as a singer. I think she'd have good stage presence. I wanted her out of the whole high school scene and a little older than William.

That was quite a nice chapter, especially the confrontation. It's great to see Buffy rescuing Spike, even if he didn't mean it, because it means they have some kind of connection. I'm sure Angel's beat up a ton of people in his time, and yet Buffy only gets in his face about William. I adored Buffy's dialogue during that scene. And yeah, Buffy's definitely small and "delicate," that's what made her such an appealing heroine on the show. I dunno if you can break a wrist that way; it doesn't really matter as far as the story is concerned, though. Nice to see Buffy "take a break,"; let's just hope she doesn't take William as "going slumming" and turn this into a bigger mess than it really is. Good work, yet again. ^_^

This was truly excellent. You wrote Spike's POV so accurately, so vividly, it was wonderful to read. You also pegged the status of their relationship, with Buffy as more of the monster than Spike, perfectly, something the writers seemingly alluded to on the show but never really accomplished because they were chained with Buffy being the lead. But it was just wonderful. The "furious fucking" alliteration. The dynamite simile with Xander. The imagery in the last line. You just get Spike's thoughts so spot on in this, and it illuminates what makes season six Spuffy so compelling. Thank you for writing. BTW, can you link to the forum thread that inspired you to write this?
