Hi Folks. My story is set in the English Regency era with the date about 1815. The story revolves around the son of a penniless Duke (William a.k.a. Spike) and a rich debutante who is also the daughter of a Duke (Elizabeth a.k.a. Buffy). Elizabeth is of a mind to marry for love and William is just as sure that he needs to marry for money. William is determined to hold on to his mistress of 10 years, Lady Drusilla Angelus, and although attracted to his intended he is sure he can love only Drusilla. Will Buffy remove Spike from Drusilla’s clutches or will he return again to the arms of his Dark Princess.
This is my first attempt at a fanfic and I would be grateful for any constructive comments. There will be some Spike/Drusilla but this is necessary for the story.
This story will be very NC-17 from early in the story. IF YOU ARE NOT OF AGE PLEASE DO NOT READ.

Damn Willow and her stupidity! You know, that was one major thing that always brassed me off about Buffy's so called friends...why would they ever think that a Slayer, fighter for the good and what not, be sent to a hell dimension for saving the world from evil? Beautiful chapter! There were several moments when tears actually pricked my eyes during the first scene with Buffy and Spike (er...more likely William at that point, huh?)
I really hope that Buffy doesn't allow everyone to totally ruin her chance at happiness, but knowing her she most likely will...at least for a bit anyway.
As far as the job issue, her friends are ass monkeys in my opinion. Willow and Tara should have been helping out with rent and food from the begining. Why did they think that they could just mooch off her anyways? Grr...infuriating, really.
Congrats on your win at the Spuffy awards! I'll be waiting rather impatiently for the next update, I truly love this story!

Author's Response: Yes, I definitely think we were seeing "William" at that point, lol. I've had a few reviewers on another site comment that Spike seems passive during the first scene with Buffy (one used the word "weak"). I don't see him that way at all. In fact, I think canon Spike was actually a very sensitive and nurturing person. One of my favorite scenes was in season five when he reached out to stroke Dawn's hair when she was upset - only to jerk his hand away when she looked at him. He wanted so badly to express that gentle side, but he had no idea how because by that time, he himself believed it to be a sign of weakness. In my story, he's able to expose that vulnerability to Buffy because he knows she's seen it before, in London, and that she never judged him for it. I don't know if he necessarily *wants* to melt under her touch and become what he considers his former, pathetic self; but he just can't help it. Being with her, and having her be tender to him, opens up that part of him. I know this was a pathetically long reply to your lovely review, lol. But since I got so far behind in answering it, I suppose I had more to say. Thank you for the comments and for the congratulations. I hope you continue to read and enjoy. :-)

However, the main difference between my Buffy and the Buffy of canon is that mine has learned that she *isn't* incapable of tenderness and love. William taught her that.
