It was great reading this story again - if only the series had allowed Buffy to make a choice for Spike - that would have be such a great ending to their journey. Alas - Joss went with what I think was a totally lame ending with the premise of Buffy being confused about her relationships.
Summary: Set end of season 2 goes off canon just before Becoming Part 1.
When Spike finds he can walk again, he goes to Buffy to make a truce, coming together to put a stop to Angelus and Drusilla's plans but when Spike shows up at Buffy's house one night to talk strategy he is horrified to find Buffy beaten, bloody and raped on the bathroom floor a snarling Angelus standing over her.
After saving her life he finds the once vibrant slayer is now broken and scared. Will he be able to save her? Or will she be lost forever?

Wonderful story - to see Buffy have to live through the ending of her Angel Love relationship in such a brutal and emotionally devastating way. I really like how you used Spike as the contrast and healing partner to Angel/Angelus. Good treatment for all the other characters as well. Great Reading this again.

Glad to have a story about these events - I always disliked the way that Riley put all that pressure on Buffy. Also, while it was very much in character for Spike at this time - I always felt that JM played it so right. Spike was such a blockhead with his smirk at Riley and his lack on understanding that Buffy was not going to be appreciative of his showing what her boy friend was getting into. Spike did the right thing in showing her because things could so easily have gone to hell had Riley been turned.

sounds like a good read - an alternative to Buffy listening to Xander's Run After Him baloney - particularly since we know how insightful he is with the wedding that almost was.

I just thought that since in this world she *knew* what was waiting for them in the Hellmouth that she would\'ve been more tempted to take the extra power from the Shadowmen and that would\'ve made her able to wear it. like how your brought her back and how you showed Spike's extreme depression and inability to let go of Buffy. While not so good for his daughter, your treatment has a realistic interpretation of how he might have acted. I do think that temporarily Spike would not have been able to control all his sorrow and pain and loss of Buffy.

Wonderful Spuffy Claim story - well done. Not sure why Angelus could not sense that Buffy was claimed - as it seems like it would have been natural and obvious for him to be able to sense the claim. However, I enjoyed your story very much.
