My whole reason for watching Buffy in the first place was for David Boreanaz. I love Bones and even Spike fans must admit that DB is a total cutie on that show. At the same time I was falling in love with Bones, I was also loving the show Leverage, most notably this guy named Christian Kane - you may have heard of him (can I just say, Gah! Oh, baby!).

I actually watched the entire DVD set of Angel before I ever watched a single episode of BtVS - because, duh - DB and CK? PLEEASE! (I have to say that I liked Angel more on Angel, the Series than on BtVS - he developed a better sense of humor in L.A.! - ok, don't hate me for it!)

When I finished watching Angel, then I bought the BtVS DVD set and watched it.

When I first started watching, I couldn't figure out why everyone was so ga-ga about Spike. I mean, yeah, totally hot and too funny, but evil, right? I know he ended up GOOD from watching Angel, but how he got there was a mystery.

Then it happened - Joss redeemed Spike, Spike fell in love with Buffy, he went to the end of the world for her and she treated him like crap (bad Buffy writers!). Then, of course, I got it. I am now in the Spike corner, on his bandwagon and leading the parade.

Like most people, I turned to Fanfic to "fix" what Joss and the other evil writers on BtVS did to Spike. I've read quite a lot and then decided to give writing a go. My first story is "Unexpected" and I *TRY* to "fix" Buffy and Spike's life. Not everything is Puppies and Blood, but hopefully, it all works out in the end {{grin}}.

Summary: A 2011 Buffy back in 1880 along with William Pratt. After an ocean voyage and a stop in New York City, our couple sets off across the American West.

There are showdowns, riots, murder and olde tyme bathing suits. The story is also chock full of history and you'll learn all the 'hip slang' from these wacky Victorians in no time. It also features a few real historical figures, but no spoilers. I'll only say that it is NOT Genghis Khan and Amelia Earhart. Put that thought right out of your mind.

Though this is a sequel to "Yours, William," it also works as a stand alone. I had to take down "Yours" as I'm rewriting as an original. You can email me about this if you want info.

William stayed quite calm ... Buffy too, somewhat surpirsingly. Her usually MO with Spike is hit first and ask questions later. Which, I know she already hit him, but ... Her attitude at that time with Spike was ... 'If I want an answer, I'll beat it out of you." I wonder what William can do to convince her ... would be helpful if the PTB came in and fixed her rattled brain after the PTWB messed it up, but, of course, the PTB are miserly suckers who only intervene when not watching Fox News ... and listening to songs about tractors. Loved Sepp's Epi. Very amusing...

Author's Response: Yeah, the PTB were pretty much in the Angelverse, so it always seems a little jarring to have them traveling over to the Buffyverse.

They can bend it all they want), I therefore refrain from watching ANY news program or reading any newspapers. Ever. LIving in the dark, in my own little world, is my solace. That said, I do agree that taking pot shots at tractor songs was a bit low ... Can't you see Spike on a tractor, wiih Buffy in his lap ala Petticoat Junction? No? You obviously have missed a great deal not living in God's country, America's breadbasket. I'm guessing you'll get an education very soon! ;-)



Lastly, the one thing I found lacking in this chapter is tears ... I would've liked to have had tears for William and it didn't get me there. I'm hopeful they will soon appear.

Author's Response: Ah, I live in Missouri now - and it inspired the Tractor song joke :) I do think Joss set up a framework for taking potshots at pop culture as well. (The Kardashians really got the worst of it). I wasn\'t going for tears in this chapter, but more horror. Horror-tears would have ROCKED tho!

Your stories are always enlightening! Love the end notes! And this chapter was especially entertaining - quite funny throughout layered with sweetness. Loved all the quotes and Oscar 'stealing' a saying from Buffy! Cool tie-in with Bram Stoker, too! And just what did you have to do to join the 'Society for the Prevention of Virtue' and where do we sign up? I'll also miss Oscar - you did an extraordinary job with him! Now on to the Hellmouth, I presume? Not feeling great about this ... fingers crossed!

Author's Response: I\'m glad that you don\'t know what\'s going to happen next! That\'s my goal - to not telegraph it. It was nearly as difficult to say goodbye to Oscar as it was to kill Billy. Originally Oscar was to be killed by Dru at the Hellmouth, but in the end, I couldn\'t bring myself to it. Big Chicken. Thanks for your support and feedback.

Oh, poor, dear William! I'm glad to know that Dru and Billy didn't do anything untoward to him. Thank goodness Buffy took the initiative and helped him begin to open up and heal a little bit. Hope they can do that talky thing and help him put some of it behind him. More tears in this one - always appreciate tears.

Oh, lots of tears in this one! Brilliant! Love how hard Buffy tried and that she finally succeeded in getting back to 'them'. Poor William! He's certainly been changed, though - scarred forever, on the inside if not the outside. You have to wonder what other nasties Dru might've done to him, esp since William doesn't want to let Buffy see him naked. {{cuddles William}} and cheers Buffy's efforts on.

Hooray for William! He definitely does have a lion's heart! We all know it's been in there the whole time, just waiting for someone to allow him to show it. I agree that he definitely deserved the honor of beating Billy the Kid in the duel - he earned it. I hope he and Buffy can heal now - she has some talking to do, I think. Soooo ... now the question becomes, what will Dru do next?

Oh man! You really had me worried that William had been turned and she was gonna find William the Bloody instead! Of course, your reply to my last review has me terribly worried, as well. Apparently, this doesn't end well. I'm on pins and needles now.

I LOVE how you've written Oscar - very witty! Awesome job!! I guess they don't have any codes for punctuation on telegrams, huh? Do they use Morse code or what for telegrams? Hmmm ... I guess I don't know how those worked back then.

Another wonderful chapter which had me holding my breath nearly the whole time.

That\'s ok. I do think most people will be satisfied by the conclusion and that\'s all I can say without spoiling. I\'m so happy you like Oscar. Hate mail for this chapter!? Seriously! I loved it! I cried!!! Yay! I love angst! I knew William wasn't just gonna let Buffy get away with that crap - and he shouldn't. You'd think she'd learn, but maybe it's a Slayer (the ONE that stands ALONE) thing. Love how you worked in the scar and the duster - I forgot to say that in the last chapter, but, yes, I noticed. And then Dru and Billy! Argh! Poor William! Buffy will be livid and beside herself - oh, bring on the guilt-trip. It's the second best thing Buffy does ... or maybe third best. Love all the notes - no worries about giving too much info. I actually knew about the dangers of crinolines and had Buffy espouse their danger in a time-travel dream in my own story - they were quite dangerous! And, lastly, since you have an UNLIMITED talent budget, why not have Billy the Kid and Oscar Wilde in the story? I'm really liking Oscar! Keep up the great work and ignore any hate mail - this chapter ROCKS.

And everyone isn\'t going to be happy with that. That\'s ok. It ain\'t a popularity contest. Hell, we all argue about all of Joss\' decisions too. Oh ... shoooo! For a minute there I thought you'd somehow gotten Liam/Angelus into the mix! Thank goodness the Irishman was only her Watcher! I hope one day your muse tells you what happens to Buffy and William, I know we'd all love to know. And I fully agree that inside William was always a hero's heart just waiting for someone to allow him to show it. Love this spuffy couple - lovely story.

Ok, you asked for negatives - I have only one thing I would've changed: At the end I would've loved a longer goodbye with many, many more tears, thoughts of dashed dreams, unborn children, lost potential, perhaps guilt on Buffy's part for coming back and bringing William here, etc.

Overall, of course, I loved the story and hope we hear more from them sometime in the future.

Author's Response: Yes, and THANK YOU. I love constructive criticism. That would have been a nice touch - to think of the unborn children etc. If I had it to write again I would like to try it with an aside to William thinking these thoughts. Partly, he was under a time constraint. Also, I saw him at that moment of being very ... selfless. And when I got in his head, tried to think his thoughts. He was just in that moment for me at that time. But you make a great point. Thanks for sticking it out with me :)

Of course Buffy and William's love would be the thing they'd need to sacrifice, yet again, for the world. I hope sometime in the future your muse will be inspired to show us where they went - or perhaps the epilogue will tell us. I keep coming back to: if the Hellmouth didn't open, then did Buffy ever even come to Sunnydale as a teen - did she ever even meet Spike, etc. Time-travel scenarios make me crazy-mad. :) Lovely story - I'm very sorry to see it end.

Well, Dru certainly seems to have Billy under her spell, in more ways than one. They will definitely make a formidable pair. Will she still be after William and Buffy or just meet them again by chance? Not sure where you're gonna go with that. Look forward to finding out. Also wondering where Warren is - will he be poking his nose back into her brain again? Will she let him?

Loved Buffy's dropping two curse words in as many sentences! That's something I've been known to do in polite company and draw shocked looks even now. Oops ... oh well, F-'em if they can't take a joke. Too bad there wasn't more time before the train for a little morning sex ... :( heehee.

And my ignorance of trains and history - where do they sleep? They don't have compartments like in the movies? For the whole trip to CA?! Baths? God, I hope there are toilets! Hope you can stay off the road for a while and write. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response: I think this is the longest review I\'ve gotten on this chapter. Thanks for that! I don\'t want to give too much away but I will say that we haven\'t seen the last of Warren. :) And the sleeping stuff (and restrooms, and restaurants for that matter) were a subject of a lot of reading. It varied back then, depending on if you were on the more established Eastern lines or the wild west. I\'ll have more on all that in the next chapter, but briefly, so that I don\'t slip into History Teacher mode :)

Oh, poor William. First havng to endure the lotion torture, then Buffy being upset by the play. Thank goodness she didn't let them cut off his curls! That would've been a travesty! Strip poker, huh? Me thinks William may need that sheet to bunch around his hips again very soon. Lovely update, can't wait for more.

I'm glad Buffy didn't drown in that get up! Sounds like she might be drowning a little in William, though. I wonder what she thought of him saying that Spike taught her to kiss, though ... 'cos her memory of Spike was not of any kissage unless you count 'Something Blue' ... I would think that would freak her out a bit. Have they had that convo before? I don't recall it. I wonder how long she'll hold out against this romantic wooing and his sweetness? Not long, I hope! Great update. enjoyed it!

Author's Response: In the first story she told him of her relationship with Spike in a sketchy way (although mentioning they\'d planned on being married, while glossing over the details). In this story, in the earliest chapters, he talked of how she\'d tell him stories of her life in the modern age just as they settled in to bed at night. THanks for the review

Isn't it a joy when, after you write something, you can find a photo that fits your vision perfectly?? I don't mock your spasms of joy over that! I've had a few of those myself. :O

Loved this line: Buffy offered him a weak smile. “It’s what America is good at. Bringing super-sizing to the world since 1880.” Very funny!

Loved growly William getting them dinner and sweet William taking her to see the arm.

And thank goodness Buffy's come to her senses! I do hope you don't go with option C, however, in your list of possible things to do next! That would be sad and quite evil, really.

It was one of those \"sure I\'m taking a bath, but I just need to write down 5 pages of this idea!\" kinds of things. So I\'m getting to that this morning!

LOL!!! Go William! Oh, I love how you've corrupted him! Bravo!

That Pullman car bed looks like a head-injury waiting to happen! LOL! Two people are supposed to sleep in that bunk? Esp the upper? OMG! They best not move or kick or turn over in their sleep! Very enlightening! Of course, Buffy and William will have no problem - they only need one spot on the bed ... :)

Of all the wonderful words in this chapter, I must pick tarnation as the CREAM OF THE CROP! LOL! Loved BtK's voice you have. You've been living in the south or midwest longer than you let on, yeah? Uh-huh. .. just PRETENDING to not like tractor songs ... now we know the truth!

Second best line: Being dead was no excuse to ignore good hygiene. LOL! Very true!

And then, of course, you must leave us worried and fearful ....

“We have a train to catch, my William. We have to kill a slayer and fulfill our date with destiny,” she said, as incomprehensible as ever.

Hopefully, Dru & William will eat the Walrus brothers by mistake. They would stick in their gullets.

Author's Response: P4Spike - well I grew up in Wyoming so that cowboy mindset is pretty accessible. When talking to my sister on the phone, I hear lots of \"gol-dangs\" etc :) She isn\'t a vampire nor a gunslinger (THAT I KNOW OF!) So glad you\'re enjoying Billy. I loved the idea of him picking his teeth with a knife and feeling kind of classy for doing so :) To ease your fears, maybe that train isn\'t headed where you think it is. I don\'t believe Buffy is the slayer any longer...
