Another beautiful chapter. The tampon story was so funny but at the same time heartbreaking and symbolic. There was so much lovely language, too, like when you say he's swimming through honey. The imagery was vivid and disturbing. I loved this. Hope you're not overwhelmed by university work and soon find a lucky fellow to perform the foot massage.

Hey, as one of the people who read this chapter before it went to post, I thought I ought to weigh in on the leggy controversy.
The image was jarring and disorienting, but intentionally so. It takes you a second to think about it before the sentence makes sense. Grammar Police-if you thought this could be stated in a more elegant way, then that's your right. There was no need for the sarcasm, though. Sharing writing is such a frightening process anyway, one that makes the author vulnerable. Obviously, this isn't a professional forum and you've got a lot of people writing for a lot of reasons. In short, criticism is important, but I'd urge you to please be nice next time you don't like something.

That was really lovely. The sexual tension between them was so intense; the pizza thing was just adorable and funny. I love the line about the best, most impressive cookie. It's such a real bit of dialogue, you can picture SMG saying it and its inherently humorous. Love that when she goes away he misses her--and she seems guileless about this, too. That being unavailable increases desirability. Or maybe she did, but I don't think she'd use Joyce's illness to get laid. That's just evil.

The whole opening paragraph was just brilliant. I hate in stories when someone gets embarrassed, and I think when he doesn't like her outfit, I actually turned red in sympathy.
Author's Response: You know, I think that if she was wearing that in the bedroom (just for him), he would like it plenty. And that, as embarrassing as it was--his telling her that he liked the way she usually dressed was sort of better.
