I am trying to find an unfinished fic that I wanted to re-read again but, I have been googling, and tried here the search function for words like slave, auction, bodyguard.

The watchers council tell Buffy through Giles that she should get a chipped vampire slave as bodyguard, which in that AU vamps are chipped and slavery is common. She has been disillusioned and Giles is worried for her. She reluctantly goes to the auction. Vampires are kept in cages, the ones being returned to many times and not sold again are left out in the open after the auction for the sun. Its a fate that is awaiting Spike. The bidding begins and the price gets incredibly high because Wolfram and Hart has a representative there bidding for Spike, but Buffy outbids him.

I can give more details, but don't want to spoiler in the case someone knows which fic this is, and if its still available someone else also wants to read it.

Hi! Thank you so much for answering, I did stumble on Belonging by DreamsofSpike during my attempts to find that other story. I bookmarked it for reading it. But I was hoping to still find that other unfinished fic, but I am aware it could have taken off the web during all this time.
