The PTB send Spike to work with Buffy instead of Angel, even though Angel is still in the picture. Spike claims Buffy without her realizing (she just thinks he bit her) and tells her he'll explain everything at a Scooby meeting, which occurs in the library. Angel follows Spike & Buffy's scent around town and comes to the place where Spike bite Buffy (I think it was by a tree). I'm sorry I can't remember much more.

Thanks for the try, but while that's a great one, it's not the one I'm looking for. It's driving me crazy because I've read it. Spike follows Buffy around, watching her back. He claims her and then at the Scooby meeting tells them he's been sent to help her. Angel finds out he claims her because he's using scent tracking. He smells where Spike claimed Buffy.

Hope someone is able to help because now I am intrigued - would like to read as well.

My first thought is Dreamweaver's Change Partners and Dance. Good read even if it's not the one you're trying to find.

okay this is driving me nuts. Is Spike sent back in time by the PTB or somehow sent to Buffy before season two without Dru?
I've thought of a fic where Angel follows Spike and Buffy's trail I think it leads him to a crypt where they've ended up having major physical contact. I don't think it is a season 1 fic feels more like a season 3 fic set after the dismal outing at the cinema. Anyway I don't have a clue about the name of that story either. Does that sound anything like the one you are trying to find?
Is there anything else that you can remember to help the search out?

No luck finding this one. I do think it IS the one where Angel follows them to the crypt. I wish I could remember more. But i can't. I do appreciate the help and RRaineTerra thanks for remembering that part. You guys rock here!!
