So in this fic, Buffy was never the slayer. She was raised by her mother's watcher after her mother, Joyce was killed by Spike (supposedly) as he was the last vamp she saw with her mother. Now Buffy wants revenge, so she goes to Sunnydale and stays with Giles and his slayer.
She ends up getting caught by Angelus and Dru. To save her, Spike ends up claiming her and they travel across America, living in motels.
Later it turns out that Spike and Joyce had an alliance as a demon needed to sacrifice Dru to bring about the end of the world and it was the Watcher's Council that killed Joyce as well as (later) Giles's slayer
