Ahh I have a memory of this story! I think William wasn't turned by Dru but was turned a lot later following a period of despair when he did nothing but draw Buffy with whom he had an affair with. Buffy had failed to meet him and had disappeared. She had returned to the future. I can't remember why she went back into the past though. In the future, Spike is now considered a famous but reclusive artist. He displays his work in Sunnydale. Buffy goes to the gallery and sees herself in his work; others around her begin to recognise her and question the likeness. Spike makes himself known to her and they begin to talk. I'm a bit confused at what happened next but I don't think Buffy had actually been in the past at this point. However, she does go back and this time, with the knowledge she has, she stays, thereby, changing history. William doesn't become a vampire and Buffy never returns. I don't think Buffy is even born or even called as a slayer if she was; there are no scobbies but they all independently have fleeting thoughts of recognition when they go to view a famous dead artists work which included works of his beloved wife. I have no idea who wrote this though or what the title of the story is. Hopefully this will help to jog someone else's memory. |
