I don't remember much about this fic. But Buffy is dating Riley, and it's after Spike realizes he's in love with her and post Something Blue. I think it also centers around a holiday, and for some reason my mind is focused on Christmas. If it wasn't a holiday then it was Buffy's birthday since there was gift giving. Spike buys Buffy a bracelet or a necklace and he leaves it at Giles, with only Buffy's name on it, so she doesn't know it's from him. He's peeking in the windows when it is time to open the gifts and he sees Buffy with his and hopes that she would realize it's from him. She doesn't; and automatically assumes the gift is from Riley and he doesn't tell her otherwise. Spike leaves dejected.
Later on in the story, Buffy is either in Spikes mind or reading it through a claim (I think it's the former though) and sees that particular event through his eyes. She's pissed at Riley for taking credit for the gift, and finally realizes Spike does indeed love her. And unfortunately that is all I remember. I know it's not a lot to go on, and I am so sorry for that. TIA. |
